Oklahoma coach Porter Moser: We had been playing offensively very, very well. The last five games, we've been one of the top offensive efficiency teams in the country. Not tonight. It wasn't [us]. It was Tennessee's defense.

030

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Oklahoma coach Porter Moser on Tennessee: This wasn't one of those nights where you say, "We just didn't make shots." Tennessee made us miss those shots. They were so much more physical, and their length bothered us.

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

I honestly during the game thought Oklahoma did a decent job, especially early, on the glass against Tennessee. And ... it finished 36-19 Vols. The rate at which Tennessee doubles up opponents on the glass is outrageous. And J.P. Estrella didn't even play tonight.

020

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Rick Barnes said that gorgeous give-and-go halfcourt play from freshmen Nate Ament and DeWayne Brown II is something he'd love to design for a set play, but that they'd mess it up if it was called that way. He's so savage.

031

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Rick Barnes said there's "no question" the pain in J.P. Estrella's foot is more concerning because it's the same foot that required season-ending surgery last year, but he stressed that the X-Ray this time didn't show anything really bad. But they'll be cautious until they can't.

030

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Rick Barnes said X-rays on J.P. Estrella's sore left foot didn't show anything awful, but he thinks that foot -- the one that ended Estrella's season last year -- bothered Estrella before he admitted it to the staff, and he was mad at Estrella for not saying something sooner.

020

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes on being a stronger all-around player in recent games, especially in tonight's 89-66 win over Oklahoma: We've tried to tell him all year he could do this. Sometimes in practice I don't let him shoot and make him just run the team.

010

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes on Nate Ament taking things up a notch in January: That's when he did it. That's when Kevin Durant did it, too. In January. Same time. Same thing. I've said it all year, and I mean it -- I wouldn't trade Nate for anybody.

040

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes on the team communicating really well tonight: That's what we expected. In December. Not February. But we got it tonight.

050

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes continues to say one of the biggest reasons for Vols' alarming turnovers is how hard and fast they play defensively, and that they struggle to gear it down and play slower offensively. He said defense is interstate driving, and offense is city driving.

040

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes on turning it over just seven times in tonight's 89-66 win over Oklahoma: We've been wanting to do that all year. Hopefully we can build on this.

010

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee's Nate Ament: It's not a coincidence that we've had some problems when we get big leads. We've let up. We can't do that. We were better tonight. We answered.

060

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee freshman forward Nate Ament: Coach Barnes tell us all the time we work hard but we're not a smart team. We're trying to become a smart team.

020

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Ja'Kobi Gillespie's 8 steals tonight set a new Tennessee single-game record

030

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Oklahoma coach Porter Moser on Tennessee's Felix Okpara: He's just an incredible defender at that length. Massive length. But he carries physicality, too. And he waits [to time block shots]. Just an incredible defender.

020

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee senior forward Felix Okpara on how at 6-foot-11 he’s always able to switch on ball screens and guard any player on the floor: “Coach Barnes.”

020

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

FINAL IN KNOXVILLE: Tennessee 89, Oklahoma 66 Vols stay hot, winning their seventh in the past eight games Another big night from Nate Ament, who dropped 29 points UP NEXT: Saturday showdown at Vanderbilt in Nashville

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

With 3:35 left, Ja'Kobi Gillespie has 16 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds and 8 steals against Oklahoma

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 79, Oklahoma 62, 3:35/2ndH Vols on an 11-0 kill shot run that should, well, kill this game Timeout, Sooners

020

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 77, Oklahoma 62, 4:24/2ndH Vols on a 9-0 run

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

This Nate Ament kid might be pretty good.

140

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Oklahoma senior Mohamaed Wague just picked up his fifth foul in 10 minutes, and he's done for the night with 6:34 left.

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

What are you doing there, Bishop Boswell? That was not worth getting a fourth foul with 7:52 left. He's GOT to stop doing this.

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 59, Oklahoma 47, 11:39/2ndH Vols have the ball after this media timeout on the floor

100

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Barnes talked to the officials about making sure they called contact on the other end of the floor, then the Vols ran a clear out for Nate Ament to drive to the rim. And he gets an and-1. For those who say Barnes never works officials.

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Oklahoma is in the bonus five minutes into the second half

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 56, Oklahoma 38, 15:08/2ndH Sooners could not have played better defense there, and Nate Ament just jumps over them and hits a deep three to beat the shot clock

020

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 51, Oklahoma 36, 17:42/2ndH Sooners haven't scored in this half and call a timeout after Ja'Kobi Gillespie hits a trailer three

010

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

After a first half without many whistles, there have been three fouls in the first 57 seconds of the second half. For what?

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Still seems insane to me that this is just the third ever basketball game between Tennessee and Oklahoma. These programs have 61 combined NCAA Tournament appearances.

010

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Oklahoma's first-half shooting numbers were much better than teams tend to do against Tennessee, but the Vols forced nine turnovers, and there's your difference to this point. Sooners are doing some of the things they need to do for a chance here in Knoxville. But not that one.

010

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

HALFTIME IN KNOXVILLE: Tennessee 45, Oklahoma 36 Game going to chalk so far. Oklahoma doing just enough to hang around. Thought Felix Okpara had a nice half there for the Vols.

010

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 35, Oklahoma 26, 3:45/1stH Vols' Jaylen Carey to the line for two after this media timeout on the floor

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 26, Oklahoma 19, 7:21/1stH Vols ball after this media timeout on the floor. Took a moment to see whether Pat Adams was calling that a held ball or foul on OU. He went with the latter.

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 26, Oklahoma 14, 9:11/1stH OU left Ja'Kobi Gillespie more open than he should ever be. Paid for it. Three. Timeout, Sooners.

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

I know the Vols got an inside bucket a few seconds later, but Ethan Burg has GOT to take that open three. When you're a good three-point shooter and turn down open looks, you're hurting your team.

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Fouled three-point shooter. Everybody take a shot.

020

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 21, Oklahoma 11, 10:55/1stH Sooners went full-court press the second Ja'Kobi Gillespie went to the bench, but the Vols broke it, and Nate Ament buried a three The dreaded double-digit Tennessee lead

040

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee's offense seems to believe Oklahoma can't stop it from getting to the rim, and Tennessee's offense seems to be correct.

021

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Bishop Boswell. Volume shooter.

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Tennessee 10, Oklahoma 6, 14:54/1stH Both teams with multiple mid-range jumpers. As Andre Dawson said, "What year is it?" Vols ball after this media timeout on the floor.

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Vols scored on their first four possessions

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 19/02/2026

Lineups introduced Tennessee and Oklahoma set to tip in a few moments here in Knoxville

000

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 18/02/2026

On the whistle for Tennessee and Oklahoma tonight here in Knoxville ... - Olandis Poole - Jeb Hartness ... and ... - Pat Adams

121

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 18/02/2026

That Tennessee-Oklahoma line opened at Tennessee -10.5 and has gone up to Tennessee -11.5, FWIW. Interesting, given the absence of Estrella. OU's won its past two games, including a win at Vandy. And the Sooners take a make a lot of threes.

010

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 18/02/2026

With J.P. Estrella (left foot soreness) out tonight against Oklahoma, it's tough to see Tennessee finding a way to avoid playing Nate Ament some at the 4 spot.

010

Wes Rucker @wesrucker.bsky.social · 18/02/2026

Tennessee confirmed sophomore forward J.P. Estrella is out for tonight’s game against Oklahoma with left foot soreness.
