#books #booksky well played, @wesleychu.bsky.social . I totally did not see the cliffhanger ending and was on the edge of my seat to the very end. Of course now I need to plunge into book 3. (There were a few plot points I expected, and I enjoyed the way the saga continued to unfold, but SURPRISES.)

Any script writer or novelist worth their Final Draft license (or scrivener!) would be run out of the writers room with this sort of trite, shallow nonsensical diarrhea of words. Don't even get me started on the run-on sentences and the dangling sentence structures and thought tangents.

What makes characters engaging are the little bits of gray around them, their slight moments of empathy, their slivers of humanities, and that glimpse into their soul to find understanding. The villain comes across two-dimensional, intellectually stunted, and grammatically challenged.

As a professional storyteller, let's review this latest episode and discuss why it falls utterly flat, shall we? The problem with the whole scene is that it breaks the fourth wall, pulling the reader out of immersion due to how utterly unbelievable it is.

I think cornering and humiliating people is not a good idea, even if deserved, even if it makes us feel better. After WW1, the world punished Germany, which led to the rise of the Third Reich. This is why after WW2, the US led Japanese reconstruction. Give people a way out.

I think we’re not talking about the same things. I assume that many leaving maga do so for different reasons. Maybe for some they’re not racist enough, or maybe some ppl are finally opening their eyes. If we blanket disregard everyone who do so, and attack them anyway…they might go back to maga.
