Did you know, when the first pterosaur was described by Cuvier, a naturalist, Prof. Jean Hermann, suggested that in China pteosaur-like animals with “bat wings, a bird head, and a long tail” were still alive (per publication by von Murr (1775)). Cuvier, naturally, rejected this as "fanciful"
