Damn, I never got a chance to speak with her. Really sad: I've seen her name so many times over the years on so, *so* many games. Including a retranslation of the iconic Princess Tomato

Alas it doesn't include bog butter, but I was very excited to see a Defector reader shared their rankings of *45* salted butters from a "butter-tasting party," along with this fascinating theory of why Kerrygold performed so poorly
Last year I held two butter-tasting parties, one for salted and one for unsalted, to figure out what the best butters I could get my hands on were. We tasted close to 100 butters overall and came up with some solid rankings. If you're wondering, Rodolphe Le Menieuer and Lewis Road Creamery took top honors for salted, and Animal Farm Creamery and Ploughgate Creamery took best for unsalted. Yes, the Orwellian butter is actually as good as they say it is.

The reason I bring all this up is that we were, as a group, shocked when Kerrygold's salted butter came in in the bottom half of the rankings. It made up for it at the unsalted party, though, where it came in sixth of 53. What's the difference? I have two theories, both of which are probably correct.

First of all, the shelf life of unsalted butter is 3 months vs 18 months for salted butter. This means that the unsalted butter you buy is most likely significantly fresher than the salted, because they probably ship it in smaller batches.

Second, Kerrygold has two different production lines for the different butters, and since salt covers off flavors, they're probably sending second quality milk to the salted line and saving the better milk for the unsalted.

Note that both parties were thrown in the same season, so it *probably* isn't a matter of what season the milk was harvested in ... though the 18-month shelf life means I can never know for sure.

Anyway, here's the spreadsheet of scores and notes for salted butters if you're interested, I still need to finish the unsalted sheet but I have a newborn and everything's hard so I'll get to it ... sometime.

Okay I'm giving Molly Millions in the Neuromancer trailer a cautious "fuuuuck yes." Are they actually gonna pull this off
A woman with reflective sunglasses and kinda a rough mullet cut holds up one hand with razors sticking out of her fingernails. She looks very cool. It's Molly again but this time she's wearing a motorcycle helmet. The visor's up but she's still got the reflective lenses over her eyes. Looks even cooler.Molly in a red wig, shot from a dramatic low angle. She's got some kind of high collar black outfit on that is giving BOSS. The reflections in her mirror lenses are intense

Thanks for the shares so far! I may keep asking people to buy these books until I don't have any left in my apartment. photo-trips.bigcartel.com But I'll also keep sharing snippets. Here's another photo of my dad's I love, from a trip he and my mom took to Egypt in 1986. That's her on the camel!

I have surprisingly few childhood photos with him since he was usually holding the camera! Which I appreciate now since he captured the limited window in which I had any swag. The books aren't family photos, though: They're from his adventures all over the world in the 70s/80s. Please take a look 🙏

The Windows Photos app -- possibly the simplest bit of sofware in the operating system besides Notepad -- has broken on my PC, and when I try to repair it it just says "Something went wrong." Took me awhile to realize what this made me think of
That bit of Hitchhiker's guide about the second worst poetry in the universe: "Grunthos was reported to have been “disappointed” by the poem’s reception, and was about to embark on a reading of his 12-book epic entitled “My Favourite Bathtime Gurgles” when his own major intestine, in a desperate attempt to save life and creation, lept straight up through his neck and throttled his brain."
