My first letter to the new Prime Minister regarding our precious Green Belt and the importance of protecting it for all future generations.

Back in Parliament today, continuing to raise the issues that matter most to residents in Aldridge-Brownhills. Later today, I’ll be asking another question about our precious Green Belt.

On Saturday afternoon I popped into the Hawthorns to the Easter Eggstravaganza where I had a lovely time - chatting to staff, visitors and residents, and browsing the stalls. I even won on the tombola!!

The Easter weekend was a lovely opportunity to be out and about locally, to catch up with friends and family, and to enjoy being outdoors in the sunshine.

Today was #PMQs and my opportunity to ask the Prime Minister a question. With nearly 60% of hospices considering cutting frontline services - indeed many have been forced to reduce services already, I asked the PM to commit to proper long term sustainable funding. Here’s what he said 👇🏻

Thank you to @wendymorton.bsky.social for raising the needs of hospices during today’s PMQs. Wendy highlighted our data showing that nearly 60% of English hospices have made, or are considering, cuts to frontline services. This can't continue, we need fair funding for hospices now.

I’ll be leading off #PMQs tomorrow at 12:00 with the first question to the Prime Minister. It’s an important opportunity to hold the Government to account on behalf of my constituents. Let’s see what the answer is! Make sure you tune in!

Happy #WorldBookDay! Today is all about celebrating the joy of reading and making sure every child has access to books of their own. We are fortunate to have outstanding libraries and schools across our constituency, all dedicated to nurturing a lifelong passion for books.

Four years on, the world continues to witness the incredible bravery and defiance of the Ukrainian people. They are not just fighting for their borders, but for the very principles of freedom and democracy that we hold dear.

While these programs equip the next generation with skills for the future, they are also making a massive impact on our workforce right now. A huge thank you to our local employers in Aldridge-Brownhills who invest their time and resources into training.

It’s National Apprenticeship Week! 🛠️ Apprenticeships are a game-changer, providing people of all ages with the hands-on skills needed to succeed. They don't just build careers, they build confidence.

Today, I put a simple question to the Deputy Prime Minister - With 6 in 10 families seeing their pay stagnate and the lowest earners £73 a week worse off, it was time to ask him to admit the Government has broken its promise on living standards. Here’s what he had to say 👇🏻

"Bricks or Bobbies" - Labour Police and Crime Commissioner is failing the West Midlands

“Bricks or bobbies.” That’s the choice we were given when Aldridge lost its police station. Now we’ve got neither - no police station and under this Labour Police and Crime Commissioner, 80 fewer bobbies on the beat. I raised this issue in the House of Commons... #PCC #WestMidlands

Pubs across England are under threat from crippling tax hikes, including rising business rates and National Insurance costs. These increases could lead to higher pint prices, job losses, and pub closu...

Wendy Morton MP @wendymorton.bsky.social · 12/01/2026
When pubs needed support during Covid, Conservatives stepped in with rate relief. And we would go further - by abolishing business rates for thousands of pubs, helping them keep their doors open, protect jobs and continue serving their communities.
100
Wendy Morton MP @wendymorton.bsky.social · 12/01/2026
But right now, too many are being priced out of existence - Labour’s tax on jobs, rising energy costs and a brutal increase in business rates are hitting pubs hard. For many, an average 76% rise in rates is unsustainable.

🍺 Pubs aren’t just businesses. They’re part of the lifeblood of communities across Aldridge-Brownhills.

His answer? He claimed they aren’t building on farmland - tell that to our communities watching fields disappear in front of their eyes. This government is completely out of touch and local people here in Aldridge-Brownhills are paying the price. Watch the exchange for yourself.

Today I asked the Prime Minister a simple question. Why is his government concreting over our Green Belt when thousands of homes locally are standing empty? #PMQs

It was an early start this morning at the Aldridge Sorting Office but a great opportunity to thank our local posties for their continuous hard work throughout the year. We are especially grateful for the extra effort they put in at Christmas to deliver all our cards and parcels in all weathers!

Labour’s #FamilyFarmTax will devastate farms and food security. I’ve been meeting with farmers this morning and ever since the tax was announce. I hope the #Chancellor listens and has the courage to U-turn on this damaging plan so we can protect the backbone of our rural economy. #Budget #Budget25

Yesterday we delivered a petition with over 152,000 signatures to Number 10 calling on the Government to maintain the freeze on fuel duty. Any increase to fuel duty would be devastating for working people across Aldridge-Brownhills. Let’s hope the chancellor listens to us this afternoon. #Budget

Delighted to call in at The Railway Inn, with a few friends, @robertjenrickmp.bsky.social, and to also have a go at pulling a pint! Local pubs play an important part in village life and have a social role acting as a meeting and gathering place for our communities.

The Prayer Breakfast is a significant event in the parliamentary calendar. It recognises the vital role that Christianity continues to play in the national life of our country and provides a meaningful opportunity for church leaders and faith groups to come together in fellowship and reflection.

Pensioners across Aldridge-Brownhills certainly won't forget this. I'm hoping to speak in the Chamber later today, at the Governments statement, to keep fighting for our pensioners.

This whole situation really exposed the Labour Party's true colours, with their malicious attack on some of our most vulnerable people. Over 18,300 pensioners were affected across my Constituency, and many went without crucial support last winter. They should be absolutely ashamed.
