If an Amish family can forgive the man who burned their land, surely I can say hello to Jenny Perowski, who used to call me "fattie fat" in seventh grade math and had boys call my house, pretending to ask me out.
That was twenty years ago. Now Jenny, if not fat exactly, is puffy as a slightly overstuffed chair. I'm thinner than her, and my pleasure feels more whiskey than cream, makes me want to pour out her Kors bag to rifle for candy, then slowly eat it in front of her like she once did to me. I know her cruelty was, at best, a misdemeanor. But anger is like a peppermint in a pocketbook—everything inside takes on its smell and taste. I could break it in my teeth, make it disappear. Instead, I savor the mint, let the sugar line my mouth like fur, linger far past what can be called pleasure. How good it would be to be better than this.

Howdy folks! So we have recently had an increase is soup patrons, and we are putting out around 40 sixteen ounce servings of soup a night now: This is the bean and veggie base for tonight's batch which is comes out to $21. Protein usually runs another $5 or so (clearance rotisserie chicken ($2.75) and chorizo ($2.25) are standard), and stock and spices and vinegar and other stuff to make the soup good add say $2 a batch. Fresh veggies another $2. Bowls and spoons another $1. So we are still around $1 a serving to put out 40 servings a night, but $40x7 is $280 a week and we are probably getting half that a week in donations: We don't really want our current very generous regular donors to shoulder more of this burden, but we could use help with trying to get more people who might donate aware of our program. Also maybe there are some charitable organizations or missions or whatever that could help us, we aren't really sure, but if anyone has any ideas that could help us keep feeding people with Free Soup For All we would really appreciate it! This Free Soup For All has a few beets in it that I got on clearance and which although is not the main ingredient, definitely takes a dominant role in the soup, and it is very very red, but healthy and good! Please help me feed these people. Many of them do meth. Many of them have mental problems. I don't ask them how I can help them, because I can't really help them, except that I can serve them healthy soup to eat, and cold water to drink. You can help them too, and you don't even have to deal with it, we will handle the soup making serving, just donate if you can. Thanks so much!

Going through around 10 gallons of water a day. I am trying to make sure there is always cold filtered water available to the public, day and night. It is $1.75 for five gallons, so it isn't that steep (around $25 a week), but it is also a lot of work to fill up 70 gallons of water a week heh.

This Free Soup For All had a really nice balance, the chicken chorizo is milder and less oily than the beef or pork, so allowed for more subtle flavors. We feed around 30 hungry people a night, and are giving out around 10 gallons of filtered water every day. Our program relies on donations and things have been kind of tight this month so everything helps! Thanks so much for your support! #FREESOUP

Layne Garrett & Nate Scheible are two very inventive, interesting musicians who are frequent collaborators who quite frequently can be found playing and organizing things at the crucial DIY arts and community organizing space Rhizome in Tacoma Park / Washington DC. Each does quite a bit to make that place as vibrant as it is in their own ways, but together as musicians they are quite a force. Layne is equally adept at playing unorthodox, wild improvisational guitar via lots of objects, extended techniques, and preparations and energized, riff-laden avant rock passages. Nate has largely played a drum kit and other percussion when I have seen him, and he similarly can take his playing in all kinds of directions, though he makes very cool solo material that ranges across all kinds of sounds and approaches. Together they promise to be a very cool live experience.

Luckily for us when I asked Space Saver if they were available to play on the bill they were! They are a great pairing with Nate & Layne as they of course also bring a lot of energy, inventiveness, and extremely adept navigations of sound, time, and volume. They are certainly one of the best live bands around, and any chance to see them play is not to be missed. Glad to have them on board.

I was also very excited that Soliton agreed to hop on the bill. Generally consisting of bassist David Menestres and electronics manipulator Walter Wright as core members with invited improvisors joining in, they tend to always be surprising and delightful live as you never quite know what will make it into the mix. On this night they will be joined by Kittie Cooper on (most likely) guitar and electronics and Neda Nadim on drum machine and no-input mixer (or some similar setup, improvisors may always find ways to surprise you when they show up to the gig!)
Really it is a night full of cool possibilities. Good people in a good room to see this kind of thing in, it will be a good time!
Music a little after 8pm, $10-15 suggested donation but no one turned away for lack of funds, all ages.

Walking from Scores is a collection of non site-specific protocols, instructions and textual and graphic scores centred on walking.
It explores the relationship between art and the everyday, the dynamics of sound and listening in various environments and the (porous) frontiers between artists and audi-ences. It starts with two premises:
1. an interest in walking envisaged as a relational practice and tactic enabling us to read and rewrite space;?
II. an interpretation of scores understood as open invitations and catalysers of action in the tradition of Fluxus event scores.
The title is a variation on Working from Scores, an article published by Ken Friedman in
1990.? In that article, the Fluxus artist and theoretician discussed the notion of "musi-cality" in visual arts and intermedia by questioning the concepts of "authenticity".
"intention" and "meaning", through the specific case of works of art presented as sets of instructions and therefore leading to a multiplicity of realisations. Picking up on these same questions, the Walking from Scores project is founded in the reproduction, distribution and reactivation of a collection of scores in various settings and situations.
This collection came together step by step, over the course of a number of years and through discussions with artists as part of a broader enquiry into the relationships between listening, music, sound arts and the practice of walking in urban space. It now includes the contributions of more than sixty artists and collectives active in the fields of music, literature, visual arts, performance, dance and activism from the 196os to our day. Some of them are linked to Fluxus, the Scratch Orchestra or the experimental scene of the 196os and 1970s, others belong to the generations that followed and some are beginning their practice today, thus testifying to a historical continuity in an interest in these issues, but also to the plurality of approaches to them.

This book, then, is a natural step for the project: it gives it an autonomous form, open to reappropriation by readers. At once an artists' multiple, a historical document and an anthology, this book is conceived not as a corpus of texts to be read, but rather as a collection of materials to be used: a transportable tool, something to carry around with oneself, to use for performing actions and experiences in everyday environments; an invitation to walk, play and listen.
A nomadic project
This wish to generate "activations" anchored in the everyday is, in effect, at the origin of the project. Everything started in 2014, when Xing, an independent organisation based in Bologna-the city I was then living in -invited me to contribute to a three-day festival to celebrate its tenth anniversary. a low-cost, pop-up exhibition strategy, as The festival comprised an interdisciplinary hardly any budget had been allocated).

I believe that the atmosphere was very much related to the materials we used: the very simple activities suggested in the scores-walking, listening, vocalising, producing sounds etc. -created a platform on which to come together and bring different points of view into relief, enabling each member of the group to contribute to the process and to appropriate activities and actions from the starting point of their own skills and knowledge.
This experience made me want to pursue the project and present it in other places and other contexts. Over the years, I have been lucky enough to be invited to activate it in several towns such as Rome, Milan, Pistoia, Brussels, Valence, and Saint-Denis. On each occasion, I have worked with different groups, reflecting together on the public restitution of this joint work. Sometimes the collection has been presented in pop-up form: photocopies of scores were put up in the streets of a neighbourhood or made available in exhibition spaces; pass-ers-by or exhibition visitors were free to take them away until the piles of leaflets had run out. On other occasions, we proposed collective performances that were sometimes open to audience participation. Whatever the form, these workshops systematically gave rise to itinerant, anonymous and unannounced interventions in urban space.

Valking as a
relational practice
The desire to intervene in/interact with space is closely related to the type of action at the heart of the scores in the collection: walking. In the course of the last century, walking has been the subject of a vast interdisciplinary literature and is today receiving renewed theoretical interest.
