This week at the charity shop. A Claudia style cape, a cardi and matching vest combination which reminds me of the carpet at Festival Hall, and the prettiest dress ever. It is so pretty on and I love it.

Today I took myself off for a walk, went to my favourite cafe, met friends, had a lovely catch up and bought four notebooks in order to sort out my life. I also got a dress from the charity shop for my viva. Of course I did.

My friend asked me what I wanted to do to celebrate submitting my PhD and I said I wanted to go make-up shopping. Someone asked us if we worked in fashion which made our day and my furry bag got a lot of compliments. I want a kilt but will have to wait until not in fashion and at the charity shop!

It was such a wonderful experience to visit University of Kent to speak to MA creative writing students. It reminded me of how important my MA was and how it ended up as Portrait in Mustard @serenbooks.bsky.social. It also led me to my PhD research idea. Thank you Dr Declan Wiffen for inviting me.

A trip to see the exhibition on the era which permanently ruined my eyebrows. The 90s were my teen years and when I went to university. When I wore awful cropped t-shirts with awful slogans but had the body to wear such things. Nostalgic for those times now.

Bit puzzled when planned engineering work is on that there is also a planned shortage of rail replacement buses (advertised on posters). I’m not an expert in this but it really puzzles me why I have to wait for an hour for a bus on a service which operates approx 8 trains an hour.

I popped in to the charity shop. I bought an Armani pencil skirt and a Sandro cardigan. I had not been for over a week since I donated all my lovely dresses which I bought because I liked, not because they fitted. Today I only bought things which I could fit into.

At my physio appointment, my physiotherapist noticed I had matched my leopard trainers with a leopard skirt and I wanted to say I have a leopard purse too! but remembered that life is not poetry and I don’t have to repeat the thing three times to show it is intentional.

Last night I hosted a pop-up free bookshop for my friends. I loved all these books but I just don’t have space for them. We had pizza and alcohol free wine and beer and it was lovely. I’ll take the rest to the charity bookshop for others to enjoy.
