If they are so essential then pay them as much as they used to be paid and make sure there are enough training posts to match the numbers exiting medical school. We need more doctors. Employ them.

Boomer here. When I was young going out was an expensive occasional treat and only for adults. Fast food and eating out all the time is a recent phenomenon and not unrelated to obesity.
