Summer is a wonderful time to visit one of my favourite beaches here in Ceredigion. I've painted Mwnt many times, and you will find other paintings of Mwnt and it's church on my website. This viewpoint looks north and captures Mwnt's beautiful little beach.

Gannets appeared about 30 million years ago. The word 'gannet' is derived from old English ganot, meaning 'strong or masculine'. With a 1.8 meter wingspan and a top speed of 65kph, they're formidable predators. #birdwatching

On the Kildonan shore, on the Scottish Isle of Arran, this large footprint is visible at low tide. It was left by a giant reptile that roamed Arran around 240 million years ago named Chirotherium, meaning ‘hand‐beast’, because the tracks look like giant human hand prints. #dinosaur

Did you know a baby puffin is called a puffling? When the chick hatches it looks nothing like a adult Puffin, it's just a little charcoal coloured ball of fluff. This is a Skokholm island puffling, here in west Wales.

Clown of the Sea. Did you know Puffins don't have their colourful beaks year round, they only have them at this time of year, the breeding season. Before winter, they shed the colourful outer beak, leaving a smaller and duller beak. #birdwatching #birds
