I am a novelist. Not a reporter. Not a poet. So to try and tell you what it’s like, I think I need to tell you stories. Introduce you to characters. I will try my best. We are under #ICE occupation here in #Minnesota. If you are American: we are your neighbors. We ARE your community. We need you.

This was my Fourth of July Post - not what you would expect from a writing coach, but every now and then I have to give writers a gut-check on whether or not it's time to walk away from writing (spoiler alert: it's okay if you have to). #writing #writers lotusandpen.substack.com/p/freedom-fr...

Trying to think of a good introductory post and I decided to go with this recent one I wrote for Substack. It has a bit of everything in there. You've got my riff on late-stage capitalism, my love of silence, a couple of good book recommendations, feminism, soapboxing. 🤍 #writing #writers #wellness
