If you’re near LA, the Bay Area, or New York City, join a rally to demand our leaders stand strong against a Paramount-Warner Brothers merger. Oakland: www.mobilize.us/notabovethel... NYC: www.mobilize.us/notabovethel... LA: www.mobilize.us/notabovethel...
No Concessions.
Block the Merger.

Twelve state AGs sued to block Paramount's takeover of Warner Bros. We raised our voices about how this mega merger would lead to job losses, fewer creative opportunities, more censorship, and reduced free expression. In a stunning blow to Paramount, the AGs filed suit and a judge issued a restraining order.

Now we need to take action to make sure the Attorneys General stand strong!

RALLY WITH US!
• Oakland: 9/20 5pm @ CAAG Office, 1515 Clay St
• NYC: 9/21 9am @ NY AG' Office, 28 Liberty St
• LA: 9/22 10am @ WGA West HQ, 7000 W 3rd

Oh please do this. It would be hilarious. The only thing keeping these outlets in line right now is the access and status as WH correspondents. "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" is a cliché for a reason--because it's very true.

When populist totalitarian movements finally gain full control of national bureaucracy, they face the conundrum of maintaining legitimacy with their antiinstitutionalist supporters. Here the solution MAGA came up with is just to pretend they’re not in power, and hope nobody notices.

Indications are this isn’t true, which means we can’t even rely on the military for basic information. It’s all just regime propaganda. The fallout is that military leadership’s so thoroughly beclowned and discredited itself, that it’ll take years to regain whatever credibility it had.

"Tonk" is a Border Patrol slur that refers to the sound a metal flashlight makes when used to beat a migrant in the head. And that's the word that Border Patrol agents under the direct command of Greg Bovino were using when bragging about their arrests in Los Angeles last year.
New court filings detail immigration agents in Los Angeles referring to potential targets using racial slurs.
Civil rights groups are asking a federal judge to bar an “ongoing campaign of suspicionless and discriminatory” stops in the Central District of California.
Immigration agents who descended on Los Angeles last summer referred to Latinos using slurs like “tonk” and “wet,” according to body camera footage and text messages detailed in a court filing asking a federal judge to bar agents from making stops based on racial profiling.

After a June raid at Home Depot in Hollywood, body camera footage captured an agent saying: “There was a guy, I’m pretty sure he’s wet he was just sitting in that minivan.” A text chain revealed an agent referring to “tonks everywhere selling food” — using a word reportedly derived from the sound an agent’s utility flashlight makes when hitting a migrant’s head. In a video, an agent said, “Yeah, just plug us in wherever you see some tonks and we’ll jump out.”

Plato (through Socrates) in the Republic criticizes Homer for making the gods so petty and advocates reimagining his works so the gods are guided by reason. The earliest Greek criticism of Homer was that he wasn’t politically correct enough and that he needs to be rewritten for the public’s sake.
