One thing which annoys me is the rhetoric often espoused by the media about benefit scroungers when a lot of claimants are having their earnings topped up because they don't earn enough. Yet they never call out companies who don't pay a living wage and are subsidised by the government.

It shouldn't apply to those resident in the UK, who already pay taxes to central government which then fund councils. I can understand areas with heavy tourism introducing a tourist tax as it places strains on local infrastructure.

The difference is that Putin invaded Ukraine illegally. And has now mounted a years long campaign murdering Ukrainian civilians, destroying homes, hospitals, schools littered with war crimes. Hate is a reasonable response from Ukraine in those circs. Not so from the invader, Putin.

Putin confirms Ukraine asked for a temporary ceasefire and that it was denied, as reported by Ukraine, Russia only agreed to a temporary ceasefire on strikes in Kyiv & Moscow to protect Witkoff and Kushner, Russian strikes anywhere else, especially on innocent people are still happening.

That maybe is a reason for recent views and behaviour. However the UK has a history of extremism going back a long, long time. I generally think that most people in the UK are decent people who don't care about race, religion, sexuality but unfortunately there are some who aren't.

Especially when a lot of councils stopped schemes to help those who are older or have disabilities with their gardens because of Tory cuts. Often people weren't even consulted by the councils when they made the decision.
