On a more positive note, I’m currently a little more than halfway through To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis, which won the Hugo in 1999, and it’s an absolute delight. Great story, screamingly funny, terrifically well written.

Now I’m in the middle of a Hugo Award best novels reading project and I’ve very specifically chosen to skip Goblet of Fire, which won in 2001. Also will skip Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book (I had already read American Gods and a couple others when the news about him broke).
