I thought hyperpigmentation was a whole body thing? like I get it on my joints and in spots where I get injured, or like easily tanning in sunlight. (Maybe thats what you originally meant)

There’s also a lot of ignorance from poc choosing to ignore these too, I never saw my mothers natural hair in my entire life because she straightened it to fit certain a societal norms, had to learn to have pride in what makes me, today I cherish my curls and all my character to this day have them.
