My buddy/roommate had one in college, which got stolen the first day. Got recovered, ignition cylinder was jimmied. As fledgling engineers, we removed it, covered with a metal plate and hidden power switch, and used a screwdriver on the starting solenoid for the remainder of our time there.

What was your first computer growing up? Mine was a self-built Z-80 with a custom OS burned into an EEPROM from paper tape, written using a PDP-8 with a teletype interface. This image is someone else's, with cleaner work than my little monster. OS also scanned the keyboard, with Nixie tube output.

The journey to an answer frequently generates potential side quests - at least when I'm working on something. In fact, I've had my own NS exploration going for some time with my "extra" Claude credits every week, and the particular solution has made some of my potential side quests more interesting.

The use of frequency and length of pauses in synapse firing, evolved connections & actual observed occasional reprogrammability, and so much else about the human brain is so interesting, equivalent to 100+ trillion parameters in our latest estimates. All proper intelligences are grown, not made.
