In fairness, she probably loves him and his musical ambitions, whereas I would just be like 'yeah yeah anyway say that line from the punisher again' endlessly, and he would get sick of that 😁

Did u know? The only winners in pesticide purchases are the chemical companies who pedal them. If you have cranefly larvae in the soil beneath your lawn, celebrate, because they're great food for badgers & all sorts of birds, like crows & magpies. Don't poison, partaaaay! #ecogardening 🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🪲🦟

Definitely, how many religious statues does there need to be? Mix it up, throw in a gargoyle. They also have a really great National Museum, I spent 3 hours in there.

No, it's always fine. If it was super personal, I likely wouldn't put it here anyway, at least until we can make private accounts. Prague was a lovely few days, although I got lost on the first day and walked 12 miles in the end 😖. Oh, and would it kill them to put 1 gargoyle on Charles Bridge?! 😁

Spunds nice. The weather here has taken a definite autumn turn. Last year, I skipped the sunshine holiday altogether and just went to Prague in the snow, which was lovely. I'm on a half day tomorrow, so I might feel more enthusiastic about looking around and seeing what deals are out there.

If I could be bothered when I get home I could look for a short sunshine break for next week. But I'm not feeling it tbh, maybe I'll just stay home and give a holiday a miss this year?

Started and finished this today (only 280 pages). I enjoyed it, 5 people are at a train station and one of them has 5 minutes to live. It goes into the backstory of each person, but not so much it bogs the whole book down. A good read 📚💙 #booksky
Yellow book cover, book titled 'Five' by Ilona Bannister It has black clock hands against the yellow of the colour, and the tagline is 'what of the next 5 minutes were your last?'

Time with the family and the dogs, 3 Yr olds are tiring and apparently everyone is a poo poo head 🤷‍♀️ Back home and tiny workout done. I've added exercise back this week at a very reduced amount and will keep a close eye on fatigue/pain.

This weeks commute read & Saturday read. There is another book on the go, but it's not finished because that must be read in small chunks and put down again. These two were good reads, enjoyed the first one and its supernatural elements, the second was a tense but quick read. More in ALT #Booksky 💙📚
Photo of a book titled 'The Silence Factory' by Bridget Collins, cover image is a drawing of a wrought iron gate with a man and woman stood at either side. A good read, felt a little slow moving at times but a really interesting idea. Loved the split between two timelines and as always the spiders. Really likeable characters a widowed poet who works for his father-in-law selling instruments for the hard of hearing, taken in by a wealthy factory owner with an ambitious plan for a mysterious material, woven from spiders silk, it can block out all the sound around you or make you hear things that aren't there. Both might drive you mad. A photo of a book titled 'Very slowly all at once' by Lauren Schott. Cover image shows a large house with a few trees in the front garden and trees at either side. This book was about greed, denial and living beyond your means and how those things can be used against you. Didn't see the reveal coming. Main characters start receiving money in the post from an anonymous source, of course they spend it, then the conditions of the money are revealed.

She had walked away from the friendship after asking me if she'd hurt me in any way, and I'd answered honestly that yes, she had. But seeing her sat alone today, all I saw was my quiet friend, and I've gone back and forth all afternoon that as soon as I could have my phone should I send a message?

Good evening! Funny old day Walked a different way because of slow walkers infront of me the way I wanted to go 😑) walked past an exfriend, we'd had a falling out. Agonised over whether to stop & speak or keep walking, pride/stubborness kept me walking. Changed my mind & turned, but she had gone.

This week's reading 🪐📚💙 Weekdays: Upgrade, spent the whole time thinking I'd already read this, I hadn't. Enjoyed very much Weekend: 1st book had me until about halfway through and then lost me. DNF 2nd book, same really, only I finished this one. 3rd: Could not get Into at all. More in ALTs.
Image shows a book titled 'Upgrade' by Blake Crouch. It's a book about genetic upgrades to the two children of an incredibly talented scientist who faked her death after causing famine and death across the globe. She secretly upgrades them, testing her work on them and wanting them to roll it out to the rest of the population. Images shows a book titled 'There is no anti mimetic division ' by qntm. A book about a secret corporation keeping everyone safe from unknowns that prey on humans but can make them forget. Was a fun read at first and In interesting concept, but just became bogged down around half way though and stopped being fun. I didn't actually finish it. A book titled 'Tomorrow' by Chris Beckett. This was a book that had multiple time jumps back and forth that were confusing because it didn't separate any of them clearly. The main character was a man who was trying to write the book to end all books but never got round to it and blamed everyone else for it. I'm not sure if we were supposed to have sympathy for him when he was kidnapped by rebels? But it was hard to have any because he just seemed like an ungrateful prat. I picked this book, a collection of stories by Edgar Pangborn mostly for the story about Martians observing Earth and its inhabitants because I thought that would be interesting. But just found I couldn't get into the story and gave up quite early on, I tried to give the 'good neighbours and other strangers' chapter a read but found I couldnt get into that either. DNF

The paired, leg-like appendages hanging out from this ant’s mouth don’t belong to some weird parasite. Instead, these are the maxillary (six segments) and labial (four) palps. Ant palps contain touch and taste sensors, and they are used to assess and manipulate food. Formica incerta. Woodstock, NY.

OK day off, bedding stripped, two washes done, food shop done with no list or plan so that's a random collection of foods. Now to clean the bathroom and then maybe just sit here for a while having a nice cup of tea.

Oh hiding away is not a good idea, it just gives the brain more space to chatter away at you (in my experience). You have to break its hold by doing something either physical or fun or both. Not that I ever manage to take my own advice of course, so no pressure 😁

No, no, brain, I love this new thing we are doing of sleeping for 1 hour and then waking up for an unknown number of hours before finally going back to sleep. I know that thing is on my mind, but not sleeping doesn't help resolve it.

I beat the weather today. After weeks of dressing incorrectly for days that start cold and end up hot or vice versa, today I wore a slightly oversized chunky jumper, and it was just right. It was breezy but I wasn't cold, and wasn't too hot. Taking the small wins where I can get them right now 😌

Ah, it was Shabbat. Once I got in from work, it was no phone, no tv, no PS4, no cooking, no cleaning, etc, for 25 hours. It leaves very few things in the name of rest, but it's my most treasured time in the week. Also, they were only like 378 and 238 pages. Not massive books.

Photo of a book titled 'The Wonder state' by Sara Flannery Murphy. The cover has a large main door surrounded by several other doors because the main theme is magical houses. Such a good read! 6 friends discover a long passed architect has designed/built magical houses in their town and set off to find each house, believing if they find them all they'll find the last location, a portal to another world. Each house has different magic: stopping time, luck, duplication, truth etcPhoto of a book titled 'The book of Phoenix' by Nnedi Okorafor. The cover shows several skyscrapers from the point of view of someone looking up from the Street, what they're looking up at is a winged woman on fire. A book about a shady company kidnapping people from African nations and performing experiments on them and subsequently others, one of these experiments is Phoenix. There are 7 locations of this company, all dedicated to different kinds of experiments. Phoenix is going to stop them all.
