personally, i wouldn't have minded an extra chapter or two before going into super hero proper, but im also happy with what we got. maybe if/when the manga returns, we can see more of Trunks and Gotens escapades.

it would have been easy to keep them acting like the bratty and impulsive children they were in the Boo arc but you can really sense them maturing in their teenaged years with how they respond to low level crimes and wanting to keep the peace in the city while being responsible with their powers.

i really enjoy this mini-arc a lot, it harkens back to Gohans school days from the original run, and i love seeing what other non-Goku/Vegeta characters are up to during peace times. what i can especially appreciate is the development in Trunks and Gotens characters,

plus seeing grandpa gohan again, you'll never see me complain about. it's nice that he gets to see goku as an adult and married (though it really is a shame that the wedding is only in the last minutes of the episode, not even seeing heads or tails of krillin, bulma, yamcha, or roshi is crazy.)

plus seeing just what goku is willing to do to save gyumao was nice, him slapping away that bowl of noodles may have been the most shocking scene in all of dragon ball. it is funny seeing just how much "journey to the west" actually is put into the arc, really brings the series together full circle

it's been really tough trying to sort out how i feel about these final episodes. while i can't say that i overall enjoyed the fetch quest element of this arc, theres still many things overall that i did like. goku using strategy over pure strength to best the apparitions was certainly appreciated.

i think the fetch quest element of this arc wears out its welcome fast unfortunately, while seeing goku and chi-chi actually spend some quality time together is nice, its frustrating that its spent on this wild goose chase for this gosh darn fan.

going around to different locations in the world is always fun, i enjoyed the revelation that oolong is just one of many pigs named after various teas. and thats all i care to say about that particular village. it was even nice to see pilafs gang, and show how chi-chi is still a world class fighter.

theres always something comforting about those "Times of Peace" moments in the series. whether or not you think filler is a dirty word or not, its nice to be able to enjoy a much more grounded adventure instead of being anxious for the fate of the world.

My favorite game, bar none, is DBZ Kakarot. I feel like its one of the only ganes in this series that has a little bit of something for everyone. I hope that XV3 takes cues when designing its world and story, but i guess we'll see. PS wheres my kakarot game that covers the first 194 chapters ban-co?

Although I'm not big on 2D/Arena fighting games, i enjoy how the series will branch out into different avenues. My first year of college, i spent hours on fusions for the 3DS, and having fun with mixing and matching all of the characters. Plus the game had some much needed jaco love

Some of my earliest memories were watching my older brothers and their friends play through some of those early ps2 games. Those games would have actually been my introduction to the dragon world, and here i am over 20 years later still loving this franchise.

to the very confusing timeline placement of this film really take me out of the experience. I think if toei allowed a little extra runtime, maybe things could have worked out better, but at the end of the day this film is only meant to be tie-in promotional material.

WeeBa-Cast @weebagaming.bsky.social · 15/06/2026
Also, i appreciated seeing goku and vegeta working together to take down the big bad, especially at a time in manga and dbz proper when that essentially never happened. But aside from that, i can't really say that i enjoyed the film overall unfortunately, everything else from the animation

Okay, so i can start off with some goods; i don't actually mind that we get into the main fight pretty quickly, this movie is about coolas revenge and by dende thats what we're getting. Of course I'd also have appreciated a little more breathing room for the side gang, but the movie only has 45 mins

Even the toll the kaio-ken takes on goku is something thats lost in later arcs. Theres even something in the end for the Lore-Pilled(tm) woth the Oozooru transcormation. Overall, glad to have revisted this episode, and gosh darn it I've been rewatching DBZ non-stop now, its just too good.

And this episode encapsulates so much of what there is to love about dragon ball. The dynamic movements of each fighter, Goku desperation being backed into a corner, an overconfident opponent slowly realizing just how much they should not have underestimated Goku as Vegeta is blown away to the skiy.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said by others here or by yourselves. Amazing moment in television and animation as a whole. Really feels like we've lost something along the way to get to where we are in this franchise

Personally, i wouldn't mind taking a month or two break in between each arc. Keeps it so that we can still talk about various other topics in the dragon ball cosmos (or other franchises), as well as making burn out less likely. I appreciate every upload you guys make regardless!

to returning characters, as well as seeing forms like SSJ4 and UI in motion again which is nive. Hopefully they dont draw out the "goku is totally dead theres absolutely no way that he could have survived that explosion nope no way he's definitely for sure dead for realsies this time" cliff hanger.

The only real saving grace of this series so far is just how little of a time commitment it is, compared to daima or super proper. At least we know that the next arc is going to have a returning villian with zamasu, which is nice to see this series might actually give some screen time and redemption

I get the same emotional response from setting up 8 COM players in smash bros., setting them to the hardest difficulty, and letting them duke it out. This is going to be a long series.

WeeBa-Cast @weebagaming.bsky.social · 10/03/2026
Who knew that removing the story beats, character interactions, tension/stakes, and juat boiling down the entire series to pitting what is essentially action figures together to fight would result in something so boring.

WeeBa-Cast @weebagaming.bsky.social · 10/03/2026
Theres just so much nothing to be said for this series beginning. At least with other dragon ball related entries i can reliably find something to praise or hate, but this here i just feel... nothing.

WeeBa-Cast @weebagaming.bsky.social · 24/02/2026
oh, i got some spice all right. i personally believe that the driving episode is one of the most overhyped things in this franchise, and i do not understand why many consider it to be either one of the best episodes of dbz, or at the very least the best filler episode.

I think, with several small changes, this story could have been more fondly remembered by fans. I guess we should be glad that the gang didn’t run off to an island on earth with giant hamsters for a whole episode, or have 3 different haiya dragons break down on the way to the lookout.

With Gohan, i appreciate seeing him stepping into the role of earths protector. If I were to Toyo what felt out of character, I can picture him calming down after everything, only to realize that he wasn’t ok with what he did to protect the world, and maybe wants to avoid losing control again.

Poor krillin, so close to his happy ending. After actually fully watching this arc for the first time, gun to my head, i had an okay time with it. We were given a story with the kind of consistent writing that we aren’t typically afforded in filler arcs or even in recent additions to this franchise.

Or even Piccolo and Kami speaking Namekian at the 23rd tournament, meaning that he either knew about Namek, or had an idea for it for later. It real makes a fan feel validated for paying attention to the story being told

Something interesting in Dragon Ball that i never see with a lot of series is just how Toriyama was able to take loose threads from several arcs prior and seamlessly reintroduce them later on. Things like the Red Ribbon Army being a recurring problem, Baba amd her power to revive souls for a day,

not like this would at all appeal to me anyways, cause im the kind of nutcase that prefers adaptations to be as 1:1 as possible, and at that point unless it somehow becomes on par with or better than the source material, i might as well just read/watch the original.

WeeBa-Cast @weebagaming.bsky.social · 26/08/2025
i think that if you are trying to adapt the series, the only way to keep the heart of dragon ball together and not too much in the process is to make it a television series (like an amazon original series, ala fallout for example).

So many emticing ways this story can go from, Goku perfecting this sign form, Vegeta finding ways to surpass himself and not just Goku, and that stinger makes me hyped every time. So excited to see where this story inevitably goes... eventually... *checks off 1075th day tally*... any day now...

Granolah was a great addition, and i hope we see more of him. I loved the themes a lot, overcoming the bad in your past, becoming stronger because of who you are and not in spite of it. Granolah finally letting go of his attatchment to his power and embracing his self via oatmeal was profound

Granolah and Moros arcs respectively really felt like it had that special something that was missing from the DBS anime, and while i think parts of the story dragged on i do think this might hold the spot for my favorite manga specific arc, beating out Moro ever so slightly

For the wish; Goku and Raditz both still struggled and eventually perished together. although free will is in question, they are saved through the direct actions of others. we still see Goku work every step of the way to be where he is, he is not some prodigal fighter who had no need for training.

People mistake Goku and Vegetas inheriting "saiyan pride" is thinking that they're now okay with the sins of the Saiyans. A true saiyan warrior fights for the thrill and to be victor, and not the monsters that Freeza had made them. They are paving a new name for their race, a more noble warrior one

A large theme with this arc is making peace with your past. Granolah has to move past his trauma, Vegeta must reconcile with his position as one of the last remaining Saiyans, and Goku must come to terms with his saiyan heritage. these goals must be acheieved for the protags to secure the win.

this flashback together, it seems like DBS is trying to blend aspects of Bardocks story together. the man is still a ruthless killer, helping do destroy a civilization to functional extinction, but he also is showing more depth of character and honor beyond that by sparing Granolah and his mother.

WeeBa-Cast @weebagaming.bsky.social · 01/07/2025
as for the big Bardock in the room, I have to be honest and say that i really love this new interpretation of this character. from the freeza force members that descend down to the planet being reminiscent of dodorias men in the original special, and his saiyan partner from Minus being featured in

Well I enjoyed the match between Gas and Granolah as they try to settle who deserves the title of the strongest fighter in the universe, i do think an issue i have with this arc overall is that there is just too much fighting and not enough time to breath in between each of this arcs major bouts

Granolah has now hit what I beleive is the climax of his arc, seeing that he's now no different than the ones that took his home from him. Perhaps now they can reach some common ground? But first, time to re-introduced to a character that i really really really want to talk about... next time.

Bringing us to Ultra Ego. For the first time in the series, Vegeta has a transformation thats his alone, and as such is no longer just behind goku, but maybe gone beyond him(?) With this new technique. Now the two can work together to reach new limits, instead of only working to surpass one another.

WeeBa-Cast @weebagaming.bsky.social · 18/06/2025
"Ultra Instinct takes a bow, Ultra Ego takes center stage!" What I appreciate as Goku and Granolahs fight climaxes is that it's very clear that Goku is still not taking the words of Whis to heart, by relying on UI and not attempting to evolve his own style, Granolah was able to outmatch him.
