WebMCP is a great new spec and I've been playing around with it in my own implementation into my web browsing agent harness. It brings interactions to a fraction of the time and sessions get faster and also 'cheaper' for the models.

I've been playing with building a personal assistant meets browsing assistant for mobile web and had to experiment with WebMCP as part of the experience. It's amazing to see the experience when the browsing agent performs tasks instantly instead of wasting turns to perform a task.

Wrapping up the writting part for my talk at @perfnow.nl this weekend and I'm beyond excited for this one. Prepare for a deep dive folks!

Whist trying out my demo for the Agentic Perf Analysis and Debugging, I managed to use my V0 and my DevTools MCP servers to debug one of my V0 demo chats. Using animation frame insights no less 😃

We're almost there! After spending the week hacking OAuth support into Mastra MCP client class and getting the toolcall aproval workflow to an MVP state this sprint is soon coming to an end.

I've managed to implement OAuth into Mastra MCP client (on a fork of mine) and now it talks to my V0 remote MCP server (that uses OAuth). Gotta work on the HITL parts of the MCP tool call as the spec requests, but we're moving now 😎.

Finally got my @v0.dev MCP server deployed to @vercel.com and successfully implemented the custom OAuth flow (to just just API key exchange).

Previous vs Current INP whilst browsing through the catalog. V0 🤝 DevTools Now up to more experimentation over the weekend, I want to allow the code editor to connect via github and download the project to have IDE <> V0 flows. But the agentic perf workflow is promising already

Having V0 talking to DevToos for some perf analysis and working together to improve performance 😎

Hacking on something over the weekend after the V0 public SDK was announced. Up next: integrate V0 MCP <> DevTools MCP for self healing generations

Today I've invited 26 more people to try out PerfAgent. I'm closing in on the opensource milestone (just gotta cleanup more before I can have an open house 😅) I'm looking to expand trace support to OTEL soon, converting OTEL spans into DevTools.

When thinking about perf, now living in Europe, it is easy to forget how skewed our experiences can be. Most of this map is dark, meaning that has little or no 5G connectivity. Though I'm impressed with how India is connected, Brazil (where I come from) is unsurprisingly dark.

A really good first try on the DevTools MCP server, gathering interaction insights and also 'general' insights using animation frames as a base 'unit of work' and extracting info using the AI helpers baked into @chromium.social itself. Profiling and fixing perf cannot get any easier than this.

It might be todo with the current outtage problems, but @github.com is showing github.com/chromium/chr... contents instead of github.com/chromium/chr... on @chromium.social GH project. Nevertheless, it is a fascinating find to me 🤔

Working on improving the LCP reports from agent.perflab.io Not only the reports are now more meaningful, I've been working on creating network activity visualization for the reports so we can better visualize the impact on different requests on the LCP timming at a glanceble fashion.

Time for another agent.perflab.io update! Very close to start getting a few test users in for some direct feedback! I've been working on getting more value out of the Web Vitals reports generated by the agent. Starting with INP reports.

Ok, deep research agent workflow objectives are getting very well tunned. Analysis Plan 🤝 Execution Query: "Can you research on the most common causes for poor INP scores?" Agent report (based on the plan and analysis): gist.github.com/WebCloud/d19...

Deep research is all about getting good reasoning around your research topics. Not only helps the eginner getting better tracability and encourages self improvement of the workflow, but gives clarity to the user and can guide them on next steps.

It's funny how much better and more reliable agents get when you use a workflow instead of relying on tool calling alone. I'm getting MoE like workflows done, assembling my own experts in a workflow. And better yet, getting even better user feedback when uncertainty arrises.

I guess it is time to update on how's it been since this thread! Now that agent.perflab.io is getting closer to a public release (pinned thread on the newest update, but you can watch a demo here www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw9W...)

📖 Research and Report Based on the trace information and user query, the agent can perform a research and provide more actionable insights to the user, helping developers of any level of expertise to understand their performance problems.

📊 Trace metadata and glanceable insights Added a panel to visualize information about the trace you are submitting to the agent. Such as Web Vitals and interactions. This will help you select which navigation to inspect, sending the correct metrics to the agent!

Hello everyone, I'd like to give you all a quick update on the PerfAgent progress! It's been a wild ride since the inception of PerfLab, from forking DevTools to build a new experience using all of its power and trying to take my owns spin on Performance Tooling for all devs! 🧵

On the flip side, the PerfAgent is coming along very nicely. I'm building my vision of a modern dev tool for performance with AI to bring performance improvements at any developers reach. Built with: 🦾 @vercel AI SDK 🤖 Google Gemini 🌐 Next 15 And hosted on @vercel ▲!

Now I've experimented with moving part of the heuristics on trace analysis from the PerfLab.io dashboard into the separate topics for reporting. It grounds the model better since the knowledge is now pre-baked into the strings it is given! This is getting fun!

Vinicius Dallacqua @webx.bsky.social · 08/03/2025
So, I've decided to change how the prototype for the trace analyzer agent behaves. Instead of using embeddings and similarity search, I am instructing the LLM to fetch the whole topic out of the insight generated by the trace engine for a better use of the context window.

YOU WILL OBEY, MACHINE! Playing with Ollama and local generations....this is so different than 'regular programming' it's kinda crazy things work at all. Playing with a fork of Scira.app to run 100% local with Ollama . So far the only thing I've kept is tavily.com 🔥

Ooh, this is the moment I've been waiting for....official AnimatonFrame support on devtools internal has landed for the trace engine! Now its time to remove my pollyfill and use the official stuff!

An easy little task for today: Keep up with the latest devtools changes for PerfLab. I wonder if some deepdive on devtools internals and how things work under the hood would be of interest to people, and what kind of format would it be best as 🤔

And now it is finally out for you to try. Whenever loading a trace into perflab.io you will see the animation frames distribution. Being able to get a breakdown of your timeline according to animation frames, aggregated by INP threshold and also by type of work.

Vinicius Dallacqua @webx.bsky.social · 04/12/2024
Now into the final adjustments, highlighting the different sections of time and its animation frames as you click on the different buckets. This will be an interesting experiment to release into PerfLab 😁

Vinicius Dallacqua @webx.bsky.social · 02/12/2024
How about showcasing what was happening on each bucket of time over the distributions utilizing the screenshots for the given trace....this feature is being quite interesting to implement but I think there's some extra UI 💗 needed, but launching soon

Vinicius Dallacqua @webx.bsky.social · 21/11/2024
I was curious to see how the phases of an AnimationFrame would be stacked and how much time each would have occupied per bucket. I've color coded eaech section with its dominant threshold for INP. This is an attempt on trying to highlight time spent vs type of work done.
