Years ago, Allen Ginsberg answered my youthful angst with a suggestion: try meditation. Reflecting on poetry, Zen, and revenge, I wonder what Hamlet might have made of the same advice. unshaved.substack.com/p/genjo-hamlet

Decades ago, when I was post-adolescent, I sent a poem and an angsty, neurotic letter to Allen Ginsberg.

Hmmm... I'm not saying you're a "Trump supporting moron." I'm saying that actions and arguments that will support a MAGA win will be far worse for LGBTQ, especially trans, people than anything any Democrat has said or done.

You're not just trying to make a decision for yourself, you're trying to discredit Democrats so that others also won't vote for them. I think you've convinced yourself that you're not supporting MAGA by doing this. Think about it.

Go ahead and do what you can to discredit Democrats and discourage potential Democratic voters. Just don't complain when MAGA candidates win, and the US government moves even farther to the right.

But this is not an issue he's focused on. He's focused on things like affordability, accountability, cost relief, higher minimum wage, etc. Sounds like your endgame is to defeat Democrats and put more fascists in offices everywhere. It feels like you've gone over to Trumplandia.

Talarico, for instance, hasn't been dissing trans people. He's only responded to questions that inevitably get asked, since Paxton's ads say he wants to have trans surgeries for kids. The better way for him to respond would be to say that it should be up to the kids, their parents & physicians.

While I don't agree with them, the various things you've shown me fall short of proving that the various Dems are "anti-trans," which to me would mean 100% opposition to the existence of trans people. I'm not hearing that from any Democrats I'm aware of.

So my anecdotal evidence suggests that people hate (or strongly dislike) AI and your anecdotal evidence suggests to you that people use and trust AI. That tells me that we need to see research on the subject, that we can't make assumptions based on what people like us are hearing and seeing.

I'm not thinking you grasped exactly what I was saying. There are light switches everywhere, but they're not all wired to detonators. In fact that would be unusual.

Though it's not wrong to think that things are bad. Or to be afraid, though hopefully we can muster up the courage to deal with the darkness.

What it means is that you should know better than to attach a light switch to a detonator, even if you really really wanted to see what would happen.

Jon Lebkowsky @weblogsky.com · 12/09/2026
Thinking about AI panic: if you attach a light switch to a detonator for a bomb, and the bomb explodes when somebody throws the switch, that doesn't mean light switches are potentially dangerous and should be banned.
