Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 1hSorry I was distracted today. See you all next time! #FreelanceFriends 020
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 1hA2: I try to get out for a walk every day - about a 1.25 mi. loop around my neighborhood. It clears my head and I get a surprising number of new ideas and directions. #FreelanceFriends 020
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 1hThere is a flock of wild turkeys walking past my office window. Just thought you'd want to know. #FreelanceFriends 030
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 1hThanks, Dava. It's not easy, given that it's a volunteer organization and the work is very time consuming. #FreelanceFriends 120
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 1hWorking on a bi-weekly newsletter and website update that I manage for a local advocacy group (engagetuolumne.org). #FreelanceFriends 140

Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 20/08/2026Next on my schedule for today: going for a walk. #FreelanceFriends 131
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 20/08/2026I recently moved from Google to Fastmail and have been very happy with them. Here's a post about it. www.webdancers.com/leaving-gmail/ #FreelanceFriendswebdancers.comLeaving Gmail (Sort Of)I recently completed a project I had been putting off for years: moving my business email off Google. Not because of a single dramatic issue, but because enough small reasons had accumulated that I… 050
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 20/08/2026I saw them last year in Berkeley. They just keep getting better! My goal is to see them at Red Rocks. 120
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 20/08/2026Thanks Andy. If I had to guess, I'd say it's so they don't have to maintain systems that don't earn them money. In other words, #enshitification. 110
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 20/08/2026A2: When there's work to do, I try to be in front of my computer from about 8:30a-4:00p. More than that and I start to get diminishing returns. #FreelanceFriends 060
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 20/08/2026A1: I've never found a pattern to seasonal work. It just comes in fits and starts. #FreelanceFriends 040
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 20/08/2026I'd say it's generally bad news, as Gmail is eliminating ways to interact with other mail systems. #FreelanceFriends 220
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 20/08/2026Greg Falken, builder of websites in Sonora, CA. I just published this blog post for Gmail users with their own domain emails. www.webdancers.com/gmail-is-end... #FreelanceFriendswebdancers.comGmail Is Ending “Send As” for Custom DomainsStarting in January 2027, Gmail will discontinue two features that affect you if you manage a domain email address through a personal Gmail account. 370
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 13/08/2026A2: I don't do this as much as I should either but I try to turn the things that I'm good at into things that other people (potential clients) would find useful, then write a blog post about it. The post I shared earlier is a good example. #FreelanceFriends 051
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 13/08/2026My birthday gift to myself was a trip up to Lake Tahoe to see the Tedeschi Trucks Band, the best touring band on the planet! #FreelanceFriends 250

Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 06/08/2026Off to that most freelance of activities: taking a walk (before it gets too hot). Nice chatting with you all. #FreelanceFriends 160
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 06/08/2026I remember when the tagline for WordPress was "Democratizing Publishing". #FreelanceFriends 170
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 06/08/2026I'm unimpressed by AI tools generally. I use AI (Claude) but with a *lot* of direction on my part. #FreelanceFriends 030
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 06/08/2026Interestingly, accessibility is a big part of AI accessibility in websites. 100
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 06/08/2026I think "content" is somewhat negative these days, especially with the rise of AI slop. #FreelanceFriends 150
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 06/08/2026A1: What I just used here: "I build and manage websites." People understand this and I don't have to call myself a designer or developer. #FreelanceFriends 170
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 06/08/2026I'm Greg, from Sonora CA. I build and manage WordPress websites for small and medium size businesses. Lately, I've been working on AI readiness for websites. @sandyhubbard.bsky.social brought me in. www.webdancers.com #FreelanceFriends 3101

Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 16/06/2026Me: Hey Claude, here's the backup of a database from a #WordPress site. I need to know the values stored for a plugin that I can't remember the name of, that used the shortcode [qafp]. Claude: (After about 7 minutes of cogitating) Sure thing, here you go. We live in amazing times. 000

Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 28/05/2026Uh oh Sandy, don't get me started on pens. My current daily driver is a Parker Jotter XL with a roller ball cartridge. Very smooth and looks nice in a shirt pocket. #FreelanceFriends 020
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 18/05/2026Thoughts on building a client-facing #WordPress plugin with AI. www.webdancers.com/building-the...webdancers.comBuilding the AI Readiness Audit ToolIt started small, as most projects do. Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 30/10/2025I keep seeing my friend @sandyhubbard.bsky.social here, so I thought I'd check it out. I build and manage WordPress websites from Sonora, CA. Currently exploring ways of using AI to improve my workflow (that do NOT involve making content). Lots going on in that space right now. #FreelanceFriends 451
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 27/06/2025Nice job and a good first effort. One thing I noticed is that most of the internal links are pointing to ifiogirl.wordpress.com instead of ifiogirl.com. This is going to hurt your SEO. If you're going to do more sites, consider moving to self-hosted WordPress(.org). 110
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 15/06/2025No Kings in Sonora, CA. By far, the largest demonstration ever held in Courthouse Square (est. 1200-1500). #nokings 130
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 12/05/2025Metaphor fail. Other than maybe the bakery and deli, grocery stores don't actually make, you know, anything. 020
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 28/04/2025We're not exactly talking about the space shuttle here :) 010

Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 10/03/2025Very sad. I've been following him for years and appreciated his data-based and balanced approach. 010
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 25/01/2025This spoke to me as the right way to think about our current condition. I will be sharing it where I can. 000
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 16/01/2025Probably not, since Bluesky is very light on algorithms. You might want to try deck.blue, an alternative interface that would let you set up a separate column for the hashtag. 110
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 16/01/2025Hi Sandy. I'm seeing lots of posts on that link. It's an infinite scroll page, so more posts load as you scroll down. Maybe your connection is running slow. 210
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 11/01/2025This has got to be one of the most passive agressive posts ever. Matt and #WordPress are going in the wrong direction. wordpress.org/news/2025/01...wordpress.orgJoost/Karim Fork – WordPress NewsWordPress.orgWordPress.orgWordPress.orgWordPress.org 010

Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 10/12/2024It was almost a staged photo, as I had just finished setting everything up. I doubt it will ever look that neat again 😉 110
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 10/12/2024I just put the last piece in place, a new webcam. Now I can put the Chromebook away and get back to work, 8 days since the new PC was delivered. 120
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 08/12/2024After using a #Chromebook as my daily driver for many years, I wanted to start weaning myself off of #Google. My new desktop is powered by #Linux Mint, running on a teeny-tiny mini PC. Still using files on Google Drive for backwards compatibility. Works quite well! 130
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 04/12/2024I'm putting together a Linux system using the GMKtec G5 (N97/12GB/256GB) for developing #WordPress sites. Cute, isn't it? 000
Greg Falken @webdancers.com · 27/11/2024I have a client who wants to put his age in years on his About page. Rather than having to change it every year, I came up with a #WordPress #shortcode to do the calculation from a given date. The code can be added to functions.php or a code snippet plugin. www.webdancers.com/wp-content/u... 000
