#FactFriday 👉 Did you know? Physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep are mutually exclusive physical behaviours of the same 24-hour day. More time in one behaviour always means less time in another. 💡 Wearable research should focus on the whole 24-h movement behaviour cycle. #Wearables
000
Wearable Landscape @wearable-landscape.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
#FactFriday 👉 Did you know? Wearables can collect millions of data points/day – ~2.6–8.6M at 30–100 Hz, or up to ~25.9M with triaxial sensors. Yet we often reduce this to simple metrics like steps or activity time. 💡 The challenge isn’t collecting data, it’s contextualising it. #Wearables #BigData

#FactFriday ✨ Wearables often perform better in the lab than in real life. Algorithms accuracy can drop substantially in real-world (free-living) conditions — where behavior is more complex and less predictable. 💬 Do you prioritize lab or real-world validation? #Wearables #RealWorldData

#FactFriday 👉 Did you know? Accelerometers have been used in research since the 80s/90s — long before fitness trackers. The earliest pedometers date back all the way to the late 19th century. ⏱️ They laid the foundation for today’s wearable-based activity measurement. #Wearables #PhysicalActivity
