In this week of BATTLE’S 50th ANNIVERSARY, I thought I’d show some of the INTERNATIONAL editions of CHARLEY’S WAR. The FRENCH colourful covers - I think they sold better in France than the Titan editions in the UK because their bright covers appealed to younger readers. 1/3

First post on Blue-sky? Why wouldn't it be the fantastic cover for my graphic novel The Ape That Ate The World designed by Andy Bloor?

Had another play around using the @retrosupply.bsky.social colour lab brushes Added the checkered pattern from the top of the old DC comics, just I loved that look and it made it easy to pick a comic out you knew would just be weird and fun to read. #luculazer #ecscifi #horrorcomics #retro #50s

Two headed giant ape ponds his chest as Lucy Lazer space cadet a blonde astronaut runs from a three headed T-Rex
The caption reads
Tri-Rex vs the kingdom of the mighty two-kings

Still experimenting with this colouring technique so re coloured this one Trump and his mum (it's not Thatcher) looking good #retrolook #horrorcomics #talltalesofterror #Eccomics #art4fun #wbhughesart #experimenting #ufos #uap #oaps

Trump and his mum are looking like 50s horror comic characters as UFOs swoop over Washington just like they may have done in 1952
The fact comics called "Tall Tales of Terror "
And it says it's a comic warning of future frights
With captions
In 1952 the landed their eyes on the capital of America

The next caption says
Beware now they're here
This all drawn by Wayne b Hughes
Also known as W B Hughes

@retrosupply.bsky.social Black Friday sale, bought colour lab 50% off Experimented on an old unused cover idea was very quick and rough with this, but still pretty pleased with it for a first crack #experiment #comics #retroaesthetic #horrorcomics #indycomics #alwayslearning #art4fun #wbhughes

Comic cover with a man wielding a gun and a to giant Mongolian blood worm coming up behind him
Heads of his friends in are next to him. And it's coloured with Ben day dot patterns like 1960s printing

This second one I went with the trope of having a gorilla on the cover and time displaced dinosaurs like old #ecomics #lucylazer space cadet meets Tri-Rex the 3 headed T-Rex and Two-Kings the 2 headed giant ape Was just a great excuse to practice using a brush to ink #art4fun #scificomics #sketches

Close up of the first 2 panels original art, these had so much needed in them originally, I had to draw them at a much larger scale than (upon reflection) was needed Still.. was fun to draw 🙂 #Britishcomics #indycomics #falcon #anthology #wbhughesart

Black and white traditionally drawn art of a man looking at a lovecraftian good and then he is thrown through time. His face stretching out and roman numerals swirl around him
