I help care for a relative with dementia. She had been calling daily with confusion about the day and when things were happening next. I used a raspberry pi zero and an extra tv screen to put up a @dakboard.bsky.social 3-day calendar on her wall. Now? No problems! 💯 Totally recommend
Tv screen w/ burnt time and date on the left, and on the right, today's date and one event "take evening medicine" then below that tomorrow date and three events and their start times. Cors hanging below the tv.

Just got this as a gift, and I couldn't put it down. It puts into words how the colonizer justifies their colonization, both during and after the fact. And it's a narrative of migration, which I love. I'm gonna be reading it again

IT'S NOT AN "AMERICAN LEGAL PRINCIPLE" OR AN "UNDERSTANDING" IT'S THE US CONSTITUTION
"The supreme Court on Friday agreed to take up one of President Trump's most contentious policies by reviewing the American legal principle of 'birthright citizenship' potentially upending a 127-year-old understanding of who gets to be a US citizen"

Ok NY Post, if you're going to shame my culture, you should first explain your cultural practices, in which one is supposed to call someone a generation older than you a "cousin" of some number and possibly "once removed". Removing them - even once - is the scandal IMHO
Scare tactic from the NY Post, "Zohran Mamdani's hijab-wearing 'aunt' who 'feared for her safety' post-9/11 revealed -- as his dad's second cousin". Subheading: the "aunt " who Zohran Mamdani said was to afraid to wear her hijab..

@alexhanna.bsky.social and @emilymbender.bsky.social for University president! I love this aspirational college statement described in The AI Con:
"imagine if just one two- or four- year college put out a statement along the following lines: We're going to prepare for this AI future that everyone is talking about by committing to funding fundamental research across disciplines, but especially the humanities and social sciences. Of course, we're concerned about the ethical and equitable development and use of the technology, and that's why we need scholars who are innovating at the edges of our understanding of how humans experience life, how power works in society, and how we can reshape our social and economic systems towards justice, equity, and sustainability. And we recommit to our mission of training students to be critical thinkers across disciplines, who can consider sources of information and locate them within their context, who can evaluate toolkits for the tasks they are taking on and decide which tool fit which task, and who can see through the glib marketing that power cloaks itself in.

You might consider that rising unemployment among Black workers is a *current* problem, not just a future problem for the "overall labor market". Your words tell the listener who you care about, and who you think they are.
Even though headline unemployment for all workers hasn’t shot up nearly as much, rising Black unemployment could be a harbinger of things to come, said Angela Hanks at The Century Foundation — in part because Black workers tend to be last-hired and first-fired.

“So, when we see things like black male unemployment reaching 7%, black unemployment overall getting to 7.5%, the concern is that overall increases in unemployment are not far behind,” Hanks said.

"the concern" is *right now* for Black and brown workers, not *just* a future problem for white workers. What @marketplace.org is saying clearly is that this program is meant for white ears only. www.marketplace.org/story/2025/0...

ABET leaders Sarah A. Rajala and Michael K. J. Milligan announced today their secret decision to kowtow to fascism
In recognition of evolving challenges in higher education and accreditation including recent directives and legislation at the federal and state level - the ABET Board of Directors met in executive session last week and voted to remove all references to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) from our accreditation criteria and public media. The Board made this difficult decision after consultation with the ANSAC, CAC, EAC and ETAC commission chairs and careful consideration of a number of factors, including the impact to institutions and potential vulnerability and long-term risks to ABET.
