Flyer for the Fall 2026 Visual SciComm Seminar speaker Jacques Balolage. A Water Whys logo is at the top left with a question mark embedded in an upside down water droplet. At the center is Jacques' picture. The background in the lower half is reminiscent of waves. The talk is Friday, September 25, 2026 9-10am AZ time, noon-1pm ET. Talk title: When Water becomes a story about climate, disability, and life in Goma. Talk description: Water is part of everyday life, but it can also become a challenge for communities facing climate risks, displacement, poverty, and disability. In this talk, Jacques Balolage will share his perspective on how water, rainfall, and environmental changes affect daily life in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Through visual storytelling, personal observations, and experiences from the community, he will explore how people with disabilities experience these challenges and why their perspectives should be included in discussions about water, climate, and resilience.
