This one raises a fascinating philosophical question: if you list your flat for £200k more than it is worth, have you really listed it, or are you just posting pictures of your home's interior online?
Georgia Dean and her husband recently took their property off the market.

He bought the two-bedroom flat in Haggerston, east London, for £470,000 in 2014. But the mortgage rate was due to rise from 1.6 per cent to 4.8 per cent: renting the flat out no longer made financial sense.

They listed it in June for £650,000, a below-inflation increase. An estate agent told them “no one would sniff around if the price stayed above £600,000”, said Dean, who works in product at a tech start-up.

In the two months before the couple pulled the listing, it attracted only two viewings.

I think that's also different? I mean that the only form of passkey supported for logging into an Apple Account is a passkey on an iPhone.

sorry, I missed a key detail! this is specifically for the Apple Account log-in.

The way Apple restricts passkey usage to its own app on an iPhone is so hostile. Defeats the purpose of passkeys. Enraging.

Screenshot of a writing-analysis tool showing paragraphs of text with phrases highlighted in two shades of yellow, brown circular "3" badges, and a black tooltip overlaying the first line reading: "No X, no Y" chains · 3 "no" items. The visible text reads: We r[obscured by tooltip]nd up. No sign-ups, no downloads, no hassle (3) — just paste your text and start writing. Everything runs locally in your browser. The reviewer read the draft twice. Did not flinch, did not blink, did not reach for the red pen (3). That's the whole review, honestly. Don't call it a rewrite — call it a rescue. The improvement is real, and it's not subtle. That loss is worth naming. Sit with that for a moment. The gains were modest, but that's not nothing. You already know the answer, of course. Consistency is the entire game, and the punchline is that nobody wants to hear it. The entire pitch is one sentence long.

linux on desktop experience: awful. neither ubuntu 26.04 nor fedora 44 booted out of the box. spent ages debugging only to discover that ubuntu 24.04 worked. sadly not the year of the desktop yet. but, pleasantly surprised that the magic trackpad 2 works out of the box, gestures and all.

finding out the hard way that there's no way to build iOS apps for the app store on a macOS beta build, because for whatever reason, macOS beta can't run a stable version of xcode. xcode cloud has stepped in, but it's baffling how apple has managed to tightly couple these things.

I think it's the lesser of two evils. It's hard to think of another mechanism that would work here.

would it also make sense to have the android app also follow a similar structure as the iOS app? otherwise you'll have out-of-sync feature sets on each platform?

Pure software brain in the Whoop app: we failed to log your sleep correctly so please start holding real still at night so the computer thinks you’re sleeping
Two things I recommend:
1. Manually review/edit last night's sleep:
• In the Sleep screen » tap last night → Edit → adjust bed time back toward 11:30pm / midnight if that's accurate.
2. For the next few nights, once you actually lie down for sleep, put the phone away and keep movement minimal for ~10-15 minutes; that makes it easier for
WHOOP to lock in the true bed time.

There are no technical or compliance reasons to double the size of symmetric keys in response to the threat of quantum computers. This common misunderstanding of Grover's algorithm risks wasting limited resources that should go towards deploying actually urgent post-quantum algorithms.

Quantum Computers Are Not a Threat to 128-bit Symmetric Keys
There is no need to update symmetric key sizes as part of the post-quantum transition, due to the details of how Grover's algorithm scales. Most authorities agree.

Linear.app's new Reviews feature is quite nice. Devin.ai also has a great review tool that helps deal with the mess of comments LLM review tools make on PRs. GitHub is being relegated to being a (poor) infrastructure host.

I do sympathise with Google in having to do this: arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026... Don't underestimate how people can easily be socially-engineered! Phones are people's lives now. I think this is much better than what was previously proposed (submitting all apps to Google for signing/verification).
