blackout poem about having your mind taken over by the One Ring Is your life all want? Your ring, powerful. One, one wins. The led can prove invaluable. Don't rest.

I made a new game! It's called Headstreak, and all you do is flip a coin and see how heads or correct guesses you can get in a row! washingdish.es/headstreak/

new book review up on my blog! The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin blog.washingdish.es/index.php?pa...

It's a Big Fantasy Trilogy, the kind of book I don't really read because I see too many YouTube thumbnails featuring men with a wall Meal Deal Fantasy Triples behind them. A thousand books called like The Wind Of Dawn and Nightbringer and Oathsteel Chronicles. Look, I'm sure all those guys are very normal but at a certain point it seems like you're just reading them because they take up a lot of space on your Kallax. Much love to youtube.com/StrawmanReads

But, despite my predjudice I was dutybound to read this after my buddy Ed started yelling about it in Discord, so I did, and I devoured these 500 pages in a little under 2 weeks.

now, back on the Viriconium train with a couple of short stories and STORM OF WINGS. i really enjoyed Pastel City, but it wasn't as wild as i was expecting. and learning that Harrison also thought it was a little underbaked was interesting. looking forward to seeing where this goes.

truebug @washingdish.es · 11/08/2025

Now on a rare reread. John Darnielle's Wolf in White Van. i've not read this since release and it hits very differently now. i'm biased on account of how much i love The Mountain Goats, but this is pound for pound some of the best prose going. every page contains something absolutely incredible.

Up next was The Fifth Season, one of those Big Modern Fantasy Trilogies that are a total blind spot for me. I liked it! 7.5/10!? + great pacing + interesting world + a fun unveiling of the plot - annoying fake swears - very "cliffhangery" chapter breaks that didnt need it - chars were... fine

Put Blindness on hold after i destroyed my kindle in a catastrophic stepping-on-it related incident. I've since screamed through The New York Trilogy - strange and fascinating In The Miso Soup - horrific! excellent! The Haar - kinda bad but some good nasty gore
