THIS is the reason behind what we see happening.

It is therefore obvious that those wealth owners must have more control over the populace in order to maintain their position. They will need to continue to distract the masses with fictitious enemies - immigrants, illegals etc. in order to continue to secure themselves.

The time is not too far away when only those who own things - businesses, assets, etc. will be secure. "Working" people will have no means to earn a living and will rely more and more on state support. But only those with assets will have any wealth to pay taxes.

Listening to @mrjamesob.bsky.social on his discussion of why Trump is doing what he is, why the world is constantly moving to the right. Why authoritarianism is on the rise. I have concluded that the reason lies in the unstoppable trends of society.

RABID! There is no other way to describe the behaviour of the majority of the press and media. ( including the BBC). This is not news. This is not reporting. This is not a free press. This is rabid, anti EU propaganda. Are you taken in by it?

Delightful painting. And you are correct - few realise how solitary puffins are. That they spend their first 3 or 4 years alone at sea, continue to spend 8 months per year alone at sea, meeting their mate for life only at the start of each breeding season. Read more amzn.eu/d/fvzOgmy

Listening to the press conference with the EU. I am sickened by the unrelenting aggressive, pro brexit nature of the questioning from the press. It is clear they continue with the pro brexit, anti EU rhetoric which has been so damaging to our country. Sickening and disgusting. Even the BBC.

Toxic, toxic, toxic! The brexit promoting right wing media has crippled the UK. Now they brand any attempt at recovery as "betrayal". This is not a "free press", this is ultra right wing propaganda aimed at keeping you impoverished, subservient and servile. Are you taken in? #RejoinEU

Sickening... The state of Israel is currently starving children to death as well as killing and maiming them in vast numbers. Remember the image of the dismembered dead child hanging from a wall after Israel blew her up. And yet.. They take part in a feckin song contest. Where is our humanity?

4. Re care homes Maybe he's calling the Bluff of the providers One more of a care provider in north yorks. "I can't continue if I can't using migrant Labour ( cheap). Meanwhile he pays himself £2.5million p.a. 120 times what he pays his carers

3. It is clear here cannot quickly fix service provision. He gets hammered if he cuts ( no matter how sensible - eg getting rid of wfa for wealthy pensioners like me ) Or if he raises revenue e.g. closing the agri IHT loophole By playing the migration card he gives himself some leeway ( for now)

I was originally also shocked. However, having thought it through, I wonder if he's being quite clever ( albeit maybe the language was clumsy) So... 1. Migration is plummeting. He can now claim credit. 2. 10 years residency before citizenship is not unusual. Eg Italy More below...

Yes, but I'm not saying it was ok that it was cut down. It wasn't, it was stupid, selfish and senseless. But... It's done. Now opportunity to improve. Would you want to clone a cat if it died, because it was special? So why clone a tree that was not the best choice of tree for a special place?
000
Just Steve @was-steve.bsky.social · 09/05/2025
The scene was "special" I agree. The tree was not. It was an invasive non native species It's gone...presenting an opportunity to replace it with a better, more appropriate tree.. Oak, ash, elm, beech. Many candidates. I wonder how " iconic" it would have been without Hollywood?

Just Steve @was-steve.bsky.social · 09/05/2025
Re "the tree". I've walked Hadrian's wall and it does have good memories. But... The idea the tree itself is special is ludicrous. Replace it with an oak. As to the pair of idiots. Make them learn all about Hadrian and his wall. Plus 10 years with no phone or Internet access.
