It seems like Russia is Valuyki, Belgorod as base for this operation, there haven't been any geolocated strikes in the city in the last few months which also indicates a low priority by Ukraine.

🇷🇺 Russia has moved four Regiments and elements of two more from northern to western Kharkiv since the beginning of July. This marks another shift away from the northern direction. This transfer aims at reinforcing the successes near Kupyansk, whereas the Russian northern campaign has mostly failed.

🇷🇺 Russia continues to redeploy forces away from southern Pokrovsk -90th Tank Division is now entirely south of Ivanivka-Novopavlivka -35th, 55th, 74th, 137th Brigades redeployed from southern Pokrovsk towards Novopavlivka -Only 15th, 30th Brigades & elements of 27th Division remain south of Pokrovsk

Russia has steadily expanded its control west of Velyka Novosilka over the last months. The Eastern Grouping tries to circumvent a deadlock at the Vovcha River by moving multiple Brigades towards the south. Namely the 5th Tank, 36th and 37th Motorized Rifle.

🇷🇺 Unit movements in the south Donetsk direction: - 29th and 36th Army shifted south to reinforce the push towards Pokrovs'ke - 90th Tank Division took up the positions near the Vovcha river - 74th and 137th Brigade take over old 90th Tank Division positions

The 336th Naval Infantry Brigade has redeployed toward Pokrovsk as well, joining the 177th Regiment and the 61st, 155th and 40th Brigades already in the area — all likely operating under the Russian Naval Infantry grouping. vk.com/wall31029257...

🇷🇺 Russian Regrouping Due to water shortages in Donetsk, many Russian units turn to volunteers for essential supplies. Through this we have been able to confirm that the 61st and 336th Naval Infantry Brigades are in Donetsk, joining the Russian Naval Infantry Grouping

🇷🇺Russian redeployments continue. The battered 11th Air Assault Brigade has moved from Sumy to Kherson to free up the 104th Air Assault Division for further offensive operations in southern Zaporizhia

Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 06/09/2025
Important units in Sumy have been the 80th and 95th Air Assault brigades, pictured here in the sectors they have held during the summer (near Yunakivka and east of it). These highly capable units are likely to be earmarked for transfer to the east, should the necessity arise.

Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 06/09/2025
From west to east, the current disposition includes 71st Jager Brigade, 15th "Stalevyi Kordon" Border Detachment and 1st Heavy Mechanized Brigade. The 103rd TDF, 17th Heavy Mechanized and 21st Mechanized brigades hold, respectively, the borders west and east of the salient.
190
Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 06/09/2025
Units in the rest of the salient do not seem to be in the process of moving at the moment. It is worth highlighting that the 225th Assault Regiment may have reduced its presence around Andriivka to a single battalion (Shkval Battalion) following counterattacks in early summer.

Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 06/09/2025
During August, the 156th Mechanized Brigade transferred to the Pokrovsk direction (possibly around Shakhove and Sofiivka). It was previously deployed in Yunakivka, where it was replaced by the veteran 47th Mechanized Brigade. The 47th moved here from the border further west.

Ukrainian units are beginning to transfer out of Sumy, following Russia's regrouping that we reported on last week. In this thread we will review the current Ukrainian disposition in Sumy, including recent changes and which units might move out soon.

The most critical part of 3AK's sector is the area held by the 60th and 66th Brigades - the northern Lyman axis. These brigades have had limited rotations in the past year, so it remains to be seen whether 3AK can stabilize the situation and slow down the recent Russian advances.

Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 11/08/2025
The 115th Mechanized Brigade provides support and attached elements between Lyman and Kupyans'k. For the moment, it does not seem like it will join 3AK.
140
Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 11/08/2025
The 66th Mechanized Brigade is not organically part of the 3AK for the moment: in a recent post it was mentioned as "attached". It is unclear whether this will remain the case, as it holds a crucial sector in the center of the 3AK's area of responsibility.

Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 11/08/2025
The four Brigades announced so far hold sectors between Stepy and the Serebryans'kyi Forest - this is claimed to be the largest Ukrainian Corps sector so far, spanning up to 150 kilometers of frontline.

This is the composition of the 3rd Army Corps. The maneuver brigades were revealed on the Corps' socials last week, while other varied sources confirmed the existence of many support units.

The Ukrainian 3rd Army Corps (3AK), based on the infamous 3rd Assault Brigade, revealed part of its subordinate Brigades last week. Their sector is the Izyum axis and, as was previously reported by Ukrainian press, they replaced Tactical Group "Kreminna" in June.

The 241st TDF Brigade seems to have battalions spread around the frontline, but its UAS units have recently become active in Kam'yans'ke. The 44th Artillery Brigade has had elements on the southern front since 2023, along with detachments in the Sumy direction.

Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 18/07/2025
The 110th Mechanized Brigade is not currently deployed: following fighting in Velyka Novosilka, it rotated out in April but suffered a deadly strike on its command post in the rear (Huliajpole, Dnipro oblast) on July 1st. Elements remain in the Sumy and Novopavlivka directions.

Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 18/07/2025
Marfopil, Malynivka and Olhivske fall under the 102nd and 110th TDF Brigades - these are not currently part of 17th Army Corps. However, they likely were under OTU Zaporizhzhia in the past, so it is unclear whether they will be attached to 17AK or remain separate.

The 3rd Battalion "Volyn" of the UDA (Ukrainian Volunteer Army) was deployed near Myrne in the spring. The 108th TDF Brigade has been holding the front west of Hulyaipole since 2023.

Moving East, the 65th Mechanized Brigade's sector has remained the same since late 2022. The Free Russia Legion has been operating in this area in the early summer. Mala Tokmachka, north-east of the infamous Robotyne, has been under the 118th Mechanized Brigade since late 2023.

On the western flank, the frontline towns of Kam'yans'ke, Stepove and Mali Shcherbaky have long been held by the 128th TDF Brigade and 128th Mountain Assault Brigade respectively. Check out our in-depth look on this area, posted earlier this week: bsky.app/profile/waru...

This is the composition of the 17th Army Corps, revealed on its socials in the past week and reported by @militaryland.net. It includes two TDF (Territorial Defence Forces) brigades: the 128th TDF Brigade was transferred to the Ground Forces in 2024 but is yet to be reorganized.

The Ukrainian 17th Army Corps (17AK) has likely deployed to the front, replacing the Operational Tactical Group (OTU) Zaporizhzhia. Most units assigned to the Corps are currently holding the line between Kam'yans'ke and Huliajpole. (Boundaries on the map are approximate)

In the past few weeks, the new 17th Army Corps has taken charge of this sector of the front and a large area to the East. We will cover the larger picture in a thread in the coming days.

During the spring, this area saw the deployment of other separate units such as HUR's special unit "Artan" and "Kastus Kalinouski" Regiment. Various drone units, including the 412th, 422nd, 423rd and "Flying Skull" Unmanned Systems Battalions also previously operated here.

Unit Observer @warunitobserver.bsky.social · 14/07/2025
The 131st Recon Battalion and HUR's special unit "Kraken" have been operating in Kam'yans'ke itself, along with (recently) the National Guard "Omega Wings" unit. 241st TDF Brigade's drone company "Vyrii" has also appeared here, but the TDF battalions still seem to be elsewhere.

What Ukrainian units are defending Kam'yans'ke against the recent Russian push? The overall sector belongs to the 128th Territorial Defence (TDF) Brigade, supported by various attachments. The 128th Mountain Assault Brigade holds its eastern flank. Yes, this can be confusing.

In a July 6, 2025 decree, the brigade was given the name of the aforementioned Mikhail Gudkov and it is now officially: "155th Separate Guards Kurskaya Orders of Zhukov and Suvorov Naval Infantry Brigade Named After Two-Times Hero of the Russian Federation M. E. Gudkov".

Today a little boy was killed in Pravdyne, Kherson. According to our unit data (in cooperation with @kelley7622.tochnyi.info) it is highly likely that either the 80th Arctic Brigade, the 61st Naval Infantry Brigade, the Drone unit "Delta Team" or 337th VDV was responsible for this atrocity.

The Corps' remaining maneuver unit, 17th Heavy Mechanized Brigade, was still in the Sumy direction in early June based on fundraisers. As it will presumably move to 20AK's sector, we will keep you updated on its position in the future.

Additional evidence of 20th Army Corps' deployment comes from today's post by TGr Vuhledar's former commander, Lieutenant General Naiev, announcing the end of his command tenure. He also mentions that tasks in the area will now be managed by one of the newly established Corps.

The 23rd, 31st, 33rd and 141st Mechanized Brigades are the Corps' maneuver units already operating in this area. As 67th Mechanized Brigade is still part of 9th Army Corps, it might rotate out in the near future.

The Ukrainian 20th Army Corps (20AK) might be deploying to the frontline after revealing its units. With 4 of its maneuver brigades currently operating in southern Donetsk, it will partly replace Tactical Group Vuhledar (TGr Vuhledar). (Boundaries on the map are approximate)

Another area of interest is Tetkino, where the 56th and 217th Air Assault Regiments are defending alongside the 2nd Spetsnaz Brigade. Infantry reinforcements are being provided by the 1st VKS Regiment and reserves from the 346th Motor Rifle Regiment (stationed at Postoyalye Dvory training ground)

In the Gornal’-Guevo area, the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade, supported by the 22nd and 1427th MRR, continued to take substantial casualties throughout May. Meanwhile, the Strategic Missile Forces regiment and the 177th Marine Brigade continued their attacks south of Plekhovo.

🇷🇺 Russian units operating in Kursk/Sumy Oblast. Thread: Contrary to initial beliefs, most Russian units remained in Kursk and continued assault operations through April and May, with additional units recently reintroduced

Additionally: Two battalions of 111th TDF Brigade were still in the area in early May. The 2nd Battalion, 5th Assault Brigade may have been deployed near Romanivka. The 2nd Battalion of 38th Marine Brigade, a sort of “QRF” in Sukha Balka, may have been withdrawn in late April.

Lastly, a recent development: elements of the 82nd Air Assault Brigade (parts of 3rd Air Assault Battalion) transferred to Popiv Yar from the Kursk-Sumy direction. We will provide updates when it is clarified whether the whole brigade or only a single battalion are committed.
