Considering the amount of non-sensical ads that I'm seeing now, you are going to be mighty hard pressed to convince me that without the older manifest available on most browsers that we are (1) better off (2) more secure (3) should see less ads 'cause I'm 99.999% sure all 3 of those are wrong

Ugh. Chrome finally cut all manifest v2 support, I.E. uBlock Origin support, and wow has that rather obviously made browsing the internet suck a whole lot more. I don't mind switching to Firefox, but with Firefox and Brave being the only options for seemingly keeping any kind of control on your […]

I'm flaberghasted at how fundamentally broken eBay's international reshipping is. At least this time I'm getting my money back upfront, yay? Sellers are getting told they failed inspection and aren't getting their products back though. WTF.

Ohhhh, hey look, after a much longer hiatus than intended, Gauss is back up and running and generating pretty graphs Fun fact: Fedora is by far the busiest distro in the FCIX mirror fleet right now. #FCIX #MicroMirror

I prefer KDE, don't get me wrong, but gosh darn it doing on-screen long pressing of keys and showing accent markers screws up those of us who use `vim` Systems Settings -> Keyboard -> On-Screen Keyboard -> turn off long press key thing with a 600ms timer or something like that. #KDE #VIM

While I'm thinking about it: a cautionary tale. Friend of mine, who shall remain nameless unless they decided to pipe up and admit to it, recently, for kicks and giggles, did up a proxy AI prompt to control a system in their basement, and then gave a group of folks access to it to "play" with […]

I so love the internet: If we centralize things so they are easier to admin, consolidate, and optimize they turn into money grabbing evil backstabbers mostly. If we decentralize: we just create a disaster scape of attack surfaces that becomes fundamentally hard to maintain. We are darned if […]

Not remotely ragging on the AirCube guy who's hand building some nice looking kit down in Texas (if he reads this 'hi', your kit looks amazing btw, massive kudos), but dang it's kind of depressing that designing Sensornode more than a decade ago and to accomplish similar goals I'm still well […]

If you are over at Tailscale, reminder to you all: a lot of folks literally hate networkd, and don't use it, refuse to use, might go so far as to avoid distros that have it. Assuming, in your docs, that there is only networkd is a bad call, and frankly it wouldn't surprise me that NetworkManager […]

Ok, let's play the long shot game: Does anyone work at TekSavvy? I have a somewhat recent want to try and ask them, very nicely, if they'll let me put an FCIX micromirror on their network. You know in their Toronto point-of-presence, because that's where most of my own traffic seems to route […]
