I feel like movies based on a novel have two very opposite fan groups. The ones you really love it. And the ones who really hate it. And then there’s people that belong to both…

Did y’all get into Beautiful Creatures? The book and/or the movie.

Exactly! Storm and Jean are “sisters” in there mid to late 20s. She just joined the X-Men later than Jean, Scott, Bobby and beast. I think so many other people are lost because of how they portrayed her in X-Men evolution as the only adult other than professor Xavier.

Two Black mayors took cities that the country loves to write off and made them measurably safer. That’s not a fluke. That’s a blueprint. Chicago and Baltimore just posted numbers that should be front-page news. They’re not. We need to talk about why. 🧵 www.theroot.com/opinion-blac...

Seems like a control thing to me. I’m sure she wanted the movie to follow her full vision and that just wasn’t going to happen. Also, I saw the trailer and know I’m going to enjoy it!

Me but with long white/silver locs like a Targareyan. They’d wear black or white depending on their closeness to light or dark.

The “Elixir” would be using my telekinesis to massively spread an elemental potion during a battle. The potion would gain vulnerability for all enemies to my telepathic control.

Something similar to Beautiful Creatures where at 16 you’re claimed by the dark or the light based on your strength and will.

I’d ride a Unicorn and have a dog as a companion.

Environmental is my fave but I would love the be able to use telepathy/telekinesis like in Control.

The black on black crime no one ever discusses… elitism

Oh, for sure. And sometimes that makes sense like in her case. Once you read the book you’ll understand my outrage. I would even say they should have done what those other franchises I mentioned did because it’s a series and these characters also age and grow into adulthood. I’ma go see it tho lol

I am going to support it though because it’s a beautiful story with an all black cast.

I would say “Yes”. It’s one of those things where the book will always be better (like Twilight, Harry Potter, and the Hunger Games) because it’s much more detailed. I feel like these characters are already flattened and not very realistic lol. Like Damson Idris is 34 and playing a 17 yr old.

Also, Cynthia was not a good choice for General Kaea. She’s Chiewetel’s mistress??? 😵‍💫

😭 I’m on the fence. I know some things will differ from the book but unfortunately this story is very heavy on colorism. These photos are already telling me that have whitewashed that part out… but I enjoy the performance of the cast in other projects so we’ll see…

In my “real life” I want to be a writer. Like, pay me a stipend to write a novel and give me a year. I’d be so good at that!

Sending some encouragement your way. I went through it for a few months myself. I did have some luck with indeed and AppleOne Staffing. If there’s an AOS location in your area that might be a great option for someone to help by doing some of the leg work for you.

And I’m so mad! I loved that this was happening. It feels very reminiscent to Harry Potter’s initial launch but in reverse.
