Cover art of my dreams. This is by Morgan Sorensen (on Instagram at @see_machine ). I haven't even started the book yet, but I'm already hooked. That's what a great artist does. I would hang this and put it on my wall in a second. #thesaltgrowsheavyinmydreams #tornightfire #tor #coverart

I went back in time to one of Nnedi Okorofor's earlier novels. Eco-fiction. Sci fi slash fantasy. But I love the critique of military, government, society, and fundamentalist Christianity in this one. You can read it as a satire. #novelstoteach

I'm a #fangirl I'd love to have a 3 month book club just on this novel. There's another cover that I liked better.

Here's my literally #dogeared copy of the wonderful #onceuponariver by @dianecoyle1859.bsky.social My puppy is 11 weeks old. The back cover is worse. This is the best historical novel I've read in ages. I would live in this transitional, mid-19th c rural world.

Happy to have read the 3rd & final novel in the #therottersclub series. Benjamin remains a boring character, but I loved following 2 generations of related characters over the years. I wish the naughty character from the 1st novel was here. We needed him. Also, more Corrie humour? A #brexitnovel

Alternative cover for #therottersclub The novel makes me wish that we had more stories about groups of friends in high school. Not YA, but novels for adult readers, like this one. #jonathancoe

As good as the series, which says a lot. This is the first thriller/mystery I've read in years. I kind of wish I could like cozy mysteries, but I just can't.

This is the novel that should be read by anyone concerned about #patriarchy #culticleaders #cults and the true nature of evil in self-serving, normal men. Not our world, but familiar. Cathedral, churches, villages, farms. Racial outsiders. Religion. Ritual. Fear of witches. Punishment. Resistance.

Some academic 'monographs' are fascinating when your care about the topic. This one surprised me because I didn't realize how fast modern breeds were established. So many Victorian beliefs come into this history: class, gender, nationalism, class, evolution, and eugenics. It left me needing a sequel

Carrying War is excellent. Fragments, vignettes, and essays reveal the author's 1983 Beirut experiences of civil war, her years of avoidance, then the decision to face this gutting past just as her father lays dying. #tanyabellehumeurallatt #carryingwar @dundurnpress.bsky.social

How experiencing civil war in 1983 Beirut as the child of a UN Peacekeeper effects her life and the writing of this memoir--namely, the memories that can only be recorded and fragments or short vignettes. Part 2 has writing about the period before she realized her PTSD. You can tell from the style.

Thank you @elainefeeney.bsky.social for #letmegomadinmyownway The perfect title for signaling how the protagonist deals with herself, her generational trauma. (And once again, brilliant settings. This will be another Feeney book that stays with me in my thoughts)

#miriamtoews fascinating memoir written in a sometimes fragmented, sometimes narrative style, with stitch patterns from previous chapters repeated later on. A great sense of her multi-generational home. Family. Writing. Told with humour.

The closer I got to the end of this great novel, the slower I read. I now need all my friends to read it because there's so much to talk about: curragh, O'Toole, chaos, lines and curves, masculinities, Tadhg's island, loss, Jaimie and the ocean... Thank you to @elainefeeney.bsky.social

I read that this two-plot, two-setting, two-protagonist novel was first published half with one story first and half with the other. My ebook weirdly had 2 sections with both stories repeated and no explanation. What an awesome and successful experiment. I loved both stories and the ties between!

I would definitely read more from #vibhutijain Ignore the mismatched cover. It's a novel about teenagers involved in a knifing, it's about swimming, and it's about the social and racial disparities in a rich, liberal New England suburb.

#PuntodeCruz translation. At one point, two of the best friends decide to sit in silence for a few minutes longer, then the plot is delayed by a fragment about textile art, theory, or history, and I realized that the whole novel had been narrated like this: as a way to delay the end. #jazminabarrera
