I've been looking! The most promising are Nordic Weasel's No Stars in Sight www.wargamevault.com/en/product/1... and Stargrunt 2 downloads.groundzerogames.co.uk/sgii.pdf I can't find anything really Guard specific sadly. I'm also eyeing Patrol Angis or MOTH but they might not be as mini-agnostic.

Ah yes, the AI Dungeon problem. It's crazy to me that the limitations of LLMs were so clearly obvious from that first popular implementation in 2020. They never fixed them, they just papered over it and lied about it.

Honestly I think its just that gamers can't read. (neither literally read the prose, nor have the literacy to understand a piece of writing anyway) BG3 gets effusive praise because it's the CRPG equivalent of movies that repeat all their plot points a million times for people on their phones.

Almost exactly 3 years! Geoff 'Doc' Swift's "Dying Breed" in Shrapnel 12 (2023) about the gender of 'Protomech Warrior' was my reintroduction to the concept (I'd read Helicopter Story, but hadn't encountered it elsewhere yet) and it was in Battletech proper! Its remained one of my favourite stories.

I honestly think this ties back to left ideals. The idea that people are just born smart is a right-wing one, 'my in-group is born smart therefore racism'. Capital also prefers that culture: a learning worker requires training - they are an investment. A 'genius' is a one time purchase to exploit.

Looks like Battletech Zenith/Nadir jump points (technically it's anywhere outside the sphere dist.) sans author fiat risky pirate points where you kinda can jump in/out as the plot demands it anyway. It's great BT story when they actually use the proper points, planets seeing arrivals a week+ early.

They do this once in the 1st Rogue Squadron book! The Rebels feint with their Carriers, draw out a Star Destroyer's TIEs at ~2hours distance, then bail. The Carriers jump to safety, the X-Wings jump to the actual target system. The ISD has to pick up the TIEs, the X-Wings finish up before it arrives

He hasn't got a name yet, but he's a large-framed rough-and-tumble cowboy in his mid 30s piloting an OSR-2M (Ostroc with no SRM or medium lasers but 5 jump jets) who loves getting right up in other mechs' faces and pummeling them.

I'm excited to read it! Reading "Indomitable" inspired me to paint up a Marauder II to be run as a MAD-4H named "Inconceivable" (due to all the RLs, sadly it's neither the IWM model nor kitbashed) in the IlClan era as a distant 'cadet branch' type descendant or copycat of the Order.

Text description of the variant T-IT-N14R Grand Titan Vengeance:
Developed by the Principality of Regulus during the Jihad, the Grand Titan Vengeance trades the weaponry and armor of the standard version for Hardened Armor, an Armored Compact Gyro, Armored Engine, and Armored Cockpit. The 'Mech also has a Full-Head Ejection System. All this protection, and a 60-meter jump radius, seems strange, but the Vengeance has a single Thumper Artillery Piece with two tons of ammo in a CASE II protected bin. This, along with two Clan built ER Medium Lasers, are the only weapons on the unit. This would seem a ridiculously light amount of weaponry, but intelligence reports suggest that the Vengeance uses the Thumper to launch nuclear warheads.
