Konflikt 47: Some beat up whitewashed Brit bots. They’re the start of a winter force defending their positions on the Rhine. A good chunk of the army are going to be engineering teams who’s whole in lore job is to burn bodies to prevent more totencore.

It can really feel like a chore painting gw minis sometimes. An 18th purity seal of a different kind just doesn’t add to a mini. It’s why I like the heresy kits so much.

Presently you do need the Barrons war book to play Warhost. However to me the Barrons war minis don’t quite hit that dark ages theme for me.

That kind of “dark ages” fantasy is my preference too. I like it a lot more than the more later medieval high fantasy kind of stuff that is common.

#oathmark test minis Spearmen and linebreakers made using Victrix late Romans and Huscarls respectively. These were really fun and a quick job which is good considering oathmark is a rank and file affair. The plan for these guys is a human Age of Sigmar army uniting the human tribes.

More beautiful Warhost minis, this time some sinister looking elves. I used cooler tones so they contrast the other Warhost minis in my collection and the basing, I want them to look apart from the world they abandoned. I’m keen to do more elves but it appears that dwarves are on the horizon!

Last of my Warhost orcs for the moment, again really fun unit to paint, really enjoyed the flayed face on the orc with the skull mace’s front.

I’ve been really enjoying the range of muted greens, browns, yellows and khakis from these historical sets for my pseudo historicals like Warhost. More premixed ones on the horizon is always good news!

Warhost When the men of Velgard march to war they do so wearing light mail shirts armed with a variety of weapons. This unit accompanies a local captain (the guy with the green shirt) so have been armed with falchions instead of the more typical spears or axes.
