In breaking News, Trump's personal library has burned down. The fire consumed both books and in a tragic twist, he hadn't even finished coloring the second one.

State of Ohio Dismantling Funding for Libraries

Dear Library Supporter,

The Ohio House of Representatives has proposed to eliminate the Public Library Fund. This $100 million dollar cut effectively restricts and reduces funding to libraries across Ohio, making library funding a line item in the state budget.

The PLF has been a mechanism that has funded 251 public library systems for decades. The PLF has been an assured partner of libraries in the State of Ohio for over 100 years.

The unprecedented elimination of the Public Library Fund comes at a time when libraries across the state already saw a $27 million shortfall in state funding in 2024. Ohio’s libraries are currently funded at the same level we were in the year 2000 with no adjustment for inflation.

The Dayton Metro Library is anticipating a loss of nearly $3 Million, which will result in

Decreased operating hours across branches
Complete closure of low-traffic branches serving small communities
Elimination of key programs, including Homework Help and Kindergarten Club
Elimination of critical employment services, such as access to computers and job search resources
Reduction of Library collections, including popular e-books

At Dayton Metro Library, the Public Library Fund comprises nearly 50% of all DML operations. The remaining 50% is from local property taxes passed by voters like you!

The Dayton Metro Library does not want to make these cuts but without the continued support of the State of Ohio we are left with no choice.
