NEW ADVICE-FROM-LIEBER LIST! I've posted these tips as a thread before, but I figured it's about time I made it available as a single, shareable image.

MISTAKES I'VE MADE THAT YOU CAN AVOID
Don't be like me.
1. Don't trash your own work when complemented. In that context your self-deprecation is insulting someone else's taste! Just say thanks and change the subject. Maybe credit an influence?
2. As far as your readers are concerned, comics are drawn with a printing press or a monitor. Don't fetishize the original art or the tools you make it. Anything that gets the story told the way it needs to be told is the right tool for the job.
3. Don't use one job to audition for another. It's unfair to your collaborators and a betrayal of the reader to get flashy or sexy or explosive if the moment in the story doesn't call for it.
4. The important storytelling choices on a page can be worked out in thumbnails. Gesture, camera angle, framing, broad arrangement of tones-get this stuff right before you worry about anatomy, lighting, drapery, or facial expressions.
5. Some artists can put down a final inkline with no underdrawing, but that's because they're skilled and experienced enough to do all that underdrawing in their head. You probably aren't. Get your underdrawing right and save the masterstrokes for the masters.
6. What you're feeling while you work doesn't matter. What the audience feels when they read it does. You can be happy and still do a great drawing of someone in agony. You should understand what you're depicting. It's not necessary to experience it in real time at the board.
7. Get a fresh eye on your work. You never know when some accidental juxtaposition is going to completely change your intended meaning.
8. Don't let getting things 100% right keep you from getting things done. It's easy to get bogged down in research or prep sketches. Make a schedule at the start of a project so you know how much time you have. Do the best you can with the time allotted and move on. But...

Throughout the first month of 2026, I'm posting my FFXIV comic, Y'mhitra, publicly. I drew this comic in 2022 and am very proud of it-- but held off not sharing it beyond ko-fi due to how personal it is. If you enjoy it and want to support me, you can buy the comic here: ko-fi.com/yuriathames/...

The cover for my FFXIV zine, Y'mhitra. Y'mhitra, more known as Y'shtola's sister, is posed in the classic summoner pose but without a book.

Text on top of the mother crystal: "The following fancomic contains spoilers up through FFXIV's Heavensward expansion. It also contains spoilers for the Summoner Job Questline up through Heavensward. i. Her / ii. You / iii. Me / Y'mhitra by Yuria Thames"

three wishes - happy two years of grand fest !!!

a wide, vibrant illustration featuring the now or never seven of splatoon 3 adorned in their grand festival outfits. the piece is split into three, representing the three teams of splatoon 3s grand festival (past, present and future). each teams respective idol group takes up that third

callie and marie strike a pose resembling their iconic “stay fresh” pose. a bright star (representing one of three wishes) sat to the bottom left lights them from beneath in warm, pinkish-red colours. the lyric “the path we walked will blaze forever” is written to the top right

pearl and marina are sat mirrored, looking into each others eyes as their hands reach out to the wish shining in the middle, lighting them in vibrant blue-purple. the lyric “having you by my side makes today perfect” is split, written in the top and bottom middle

deep cut (shiver, frye and big man) sit in a more tiered composition, each with their arms outstretched, shiver gracefully leaning forward at the bottom, frye reaching to the wish (which shines in the top right) in the middle, and big man striking a flex-like pose at the top. the lyric “someday we’ll unite to find our dreams” is written in the bottom left corner

Your website should be your ol’ reliable for your comic, your place you can call home. Social media and “webtoon” platforms should be used for crossposting and nothing more! They should never be trusted, they can always disappear tomorrow, but with a website your comic has a safe consistent home!

[Comm] Just a little bite... Just a nibble... cod I wish that was m- A Marye commission I made! Splatoween is coming so its nice remembering how hot all the idols are in their costumes... [ #splatoon #splatoonart #mariecuttlefish #frye ]

The Image shows Frye sitting on a table, wearing her splatoween costume and leaning back onto it with one hand. Her head is leant to the side as Marie, in her splatoon 2 splatoween promo art outfit bites her neck and drinks ink from it.

One of her hands is wrapped around fryes waist and the other is resting on her thigh, as Fryes other hand is on Maries lower back.

Fryes tongue is hanging out of her mouth and she has a euphoric, blushing expression on her face as she pants and gazes off into the distance. Marie had an expressionless but blushing face and her eyes are mostly closed, though her pupils are staring back into the camera.

Marie mumbles "You're enjoying this too much..." to Frye. In the background there are chibi versions of the two. Frye beaming happily as her ink gushes out of her neck with a SPLURT and Marie stares at her unimpressed, ink covering her mouth.

💥💥Yo give it up cause I know what you've got You can ride to the top, but you can't ride on my c- #shoheivu 🔅 art by @yuckieducky.bsky.social

Three full body lineup of my original character, Shohei Vu (they/them) over a purple background with bright pink paint stroke zigzagging in the middle. Shohei is thin, pale, and has short pink hair and has many piercings, notably a snakebite. They are posed with their left hand in their pocket and their right hand near their face. The first one is of Shohei wearing nothing but underwear. The second, they are wearing modern street clothes, mostly grey and black but with some pink highlights. The third, they are wearing Final Fantasy XIV modded gear (black leathers, many belts, bronze ish pauldron and armor, and a fur collar). Their FFXIV self also has white highlights in their hair, in contrast to the others only having pure pink.

Morgan squishing Shivers face using her bicep and forearm, she is smirking and winking at the camera while shiver blushes and smiles dazedly

Molly, Big Man, Frye and Ice-cream (a smallfry that Molly befriended) are all tinkering together, Molly is cheering Ice-cream on, big man js reading from a magazine or manual as Frye is leaning on his head watching all of them have fun.

Morgan and Shiver are making out in the background

Morgan is sleeping on shivers lap, her head rested on it as shiver holds her face with one hand and pets her with the other, causing morgan to purr in her sleep. Shiver is looking down at her with a soft look and blush, thinking "shes so cute"

Molly and Frye are cuddling in the background and supposedly causing earthquakes with their purrs

Shiver is sitting on Morgan's lap as they are making out, she is holding Morgan's face as Morgan's arms are wrapped around her waist. They are breathing steamily and hearts are above their faces.
