It's bee day. 1 mite in my sugar shake. gonna check again in a week or two. Here is a selection of photos from today's check. 10 full bars and 2 partial bars. 2 bars full of honey. the rest a mix of honey pollen and brood. gonna have to feed them this winter, I guess.

Spot the queen (hint: She's not fully visible, but if you know what to look for you'll see her). Yep, hive is doing great, though I'm concerned the honey stores aren't that large yet. Had to correct a comb with some twine, too, so I'll have to go back in to get that out in a few days.

Success. I drove slowly down a background the tree was suppose to be and spotted its unique leaves at the exact spot it was listed at. Now my mistake...I forgot a shovel. These normally root propagate. So I took several of the suckers as cuttings and we'll see if they start to root.

Week 3 of my new queen. Brood is being produced. They have gone through a bit of the honey stores in spite of me giving them a pint of sugar water every other day or so. Zero queen cells so they think they're doing okay. #beekeeping #topbarhive

Today's check, which should now come once a week though I may still do two, resulted in five full combs, one half comb, and two bars starting. So two more bars added in for them. But this comb has empty cells in the middle, which tells me brood must have matured. All good news.

So far so good. Five combs drawn. Five empty combs. Bad thing is condensation in the empty part of the main chamber, but it's a bit late to do anything about, other than wiping it during inspections, so hopefully they draw a few more combs out to soak up space. I see a lot of brood so that's good.

So a quick and dirty breakout clone is now done. Didn't bother with lives or a restart screen. Makes use of signals for brick detection, each brick hit is 1 point, bricks turn red on 1st hit then are freed on the 2nd hit. No sprites, everything is in system. lost ball can be fired immediately.

It took about six hours to get to the 216F degree mark, then finished the boil on the stove. About 5 cups. I wasn't far off the mark...and if I hadn't splishy splashed a lot over the sides while boiling I might have hit it dead on. Write up on walkerriley.github.io/posts/maples...
