The incident echoes previous Israeli attacks on Gaza-bound aid ships, most famously the Mavi Marmara in 2010 when Israeli commandoes killed 9 onboard. The UN investigation of the attack found that 6 were summarily executed, shot in the head from distances between 2 and 15 cm.
