82年連載当時にオカマのツネさんについて、「深い事情がおありなんでしょう」と主人公に言わせ、きちんと女としての情を描くちばてつや先生を尊敬する。掲載雑誌モーニングの82年創刊号には、右腕に腕時計つける男は「ホモ」らしいという噂を聞いてショックを受けるOLの話が載っている。（なお、噂の男はただの車の運転好きで、左手でギアを操縦する際に邪魔にならないように、左に腕時計をしないというオチ。車に乗るシティボーイかっこいい、という時代）
