I was about to say “it’s the same in Ibaraki” but it was also 10~20 years ago when I was there (that said I doubt it’s changed)

The Human Vapor; Ishiro Honda and Eiji Tsuburaya at the heigh of their segacity. Fantastically tragic and visually rich. It's The Man Who Stole the Sun but tokusatsu.

I’ve been sitting on a podcast record about the original Yūgi films that I wanted to get out, but then life happened for like 2 years straight. Sorry to the folks who appeared on it… I will put it out!!!

It'd be really nice if the companies doing 4K UHD releases of old anime remember these were made on film and they're supposed to have noise and grain.

Sorry meant to respond to this 😓 Let’s play it by ear! I’m kinda in rest mode rn after my silver week travel + kinda busy days at work.

*wakes up* anime discourse huh

(the other JP media I've been watching with subs is period stuff when I can get a translation. and also, jingi naki tatakai. tho maybe now i dont need subs for that one)

030

(That said, my native-Japanese partner also said they couldn't make heads or tails of it) Anyway, it's def worth another watch with a translation on top--so I'll do that at some point. But until then '95 and GITS:SAC remain my faves.
