If you’re an aspiring driver turning 18 years old soon, be prepared for new driver education requirements starting Jan. 1, 2027. This is the first phase of a multi-year effort to train younger drivers under age 22.

Off to college soon? Make sure your stuff gets there — and that everyone else gets where they're going, too. Secure your loads. Unsecured loads cause more than 300 crashes in Washington each year. It's one lesson you don't want to learn. Get tips at SecureLoadsWA.org.
A pickup truck shows a properly secured load covered with a tarp and tied down at multiple points. Is your load secure? Ask yourself: Would I feel my family was safe if they were driving behind me? Will my load stay secure if I have to brake suddenly, hit a bump, turn a corner, or go uphill? Is there any chance of debris falling or blowing out of my vehicle? If it rains, will any of my cargo break down? Did I double-check my load to make sure it's secure? These questions and other tips can be found at SecureLoadsWA.org. This post is from the Washington State Department of Licensing.
