I definitely wanna talk more abt comics and cartoons in the future since ppl seem to find it interesting but I wouldn't even know where to really start other than posting random things I find interesting myself while paroozing online and in comic book shops, hmm... 🤔

Front site is going to be offline tonight starting at 10PM EDT for maintenance and performance upgrades. Shouldn't be more than a few hours. Thanks for your patience.

even though this video is 3 hrs long I didn't really notice the run time until I was already halfway through the video bcuz there's just so much more than the history of cartoons happening here, WB as a company and the staying power of Looney Tunes over so many decades... it's all so interesting!!

this video was genuinely such an awesome watch, there were times when I reflected on LT being almost everywhere in my life aside from the cartoons, like commercials and clothing, and this explains that and a lot of other interesting things abt WB through the years www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gmyp...

I'm very jealous of the countries that've gotten LT comic collections bcuz there's a specific roadrunner/coyote one that is shared around but only as photos, no one has scanned it and I would loooove to see that one in a better quality 😔🙏

Neo Géo 💫 @wackyworkbench.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

there were 2 issues of the gold key comics and nothing else 😔 tragic

today after work I shall go looking for looney tunes comics again... hopefully 🙏

a late one for you tonight... monkey ball is one of the most elegantly designed precision arcade games ever made, a game that takes a design staff primed on racers and lets them create economic geometry puzzles, only building towards alien grandeur in their structures at the end. link below!

first few paragraphs: Sega was the master of exaggerated, nuanced physics engines, and Monkey Ball fits that mold to a T. There’s three stylistic inaccuracies that sew Monkey Ball’s unique physics together:

Friction is present as a constant inhibiting force, but in a sense this helps hold the monkey on downward slopes. This gives Monkey Ball a “sticky” quality.

Collisions can and often do pop the monkey up in the air, where speed is uncapped. This, and the fact that the collisions seem relatively elastic,1 make collisions actually a boon for gaining speed rather than a total obstacle.

It’s a common misconception that Monkey Ball has the player control the tilt of the stage, letting the monkey freely roll throughout it. Instead, the player is actually controlling the direction of gravity, offering very similar effects to stage-tilting while also providing essential air control to the monkey.

The three of these combined make Monkey Ball an intuitive, forgiving engine that encourages aggressive play.2 Speed gains are always at the player’s fingertips and rely heavily on environmental awareness. With that intrinsic concentration in the engine, the stage design can then follow suit. Monkey Ball’s stages are focused and brief; many stages have a max time limit of only 30 seconds, intend for you to beat them in less than half of that, and have a theoretical lower bound of only a couple seconds. While the stages are static and encourage memorization, the short length and nuanced physics put the micro-movements front-and-center in comparison to broader routing, and this creates its own form of complexity-oriented dynamism for those who can’t memorize frame-perfect input strings.

I easily could've just missed those issues somehow since shounen jump was also going digital around the time and I lost interest in keeping up w/ officially translated manga by then, but at least the entire series was translated and published in collected volumes, unlike some other manga... 😔

omigosh one of my favourites from middle school! I had never read shaman king so this was my first experience w/ hiroyuki takei's art and I was obsessed!! I also remember trying to find raws online to read the last chapters bcuz I don't think they were published in NA shounen jump? 😭

I'm glad other ppl enjoyed my rambling abt random bird mascots, there's some kind of cuteness appeal to them that always gets me 😋🙏

Neo Géo 💫 @wackyworkbench.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

continuing w/ my conscious stream of thought the design fsr reminded me of the mascot from robin's donuts which is also a really good mascot bird design— I was oddly obsessed with him as a child

lesser known waifus ok wait this team was only around for ONE SEASON (2003-2004) and not only that they reused the logo from the previous, dormant team the phoenix roadrunners (IHL) which is named after the WHA team of the same name BUT that one is blue and gold I'm in love with him

it really sucks slowly seeing indie and web comic sites disappear over the years 😔 thankfully self hosting on a website is easy enough & uploading to the archive is an option too if needed 🙏

also, I learnt that this version I found is the smaller, 45th anniversary edition, I see that the original, much larger version is $200 USD 😭 so please do look around and see if the smaller, newly published version (dated 2026) is available for you at a reasonable price!

010

Neo Géo 💫 @wackyworkbench.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

oh my goodness, I don't blame you! the reason I impulsively bought it was bcuz it was $40 CAD, which has been the lowest priced duck-related book I've bought in a while I think! I feel quite lucky now... 🥲
