Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: A House of Dynamite (2025). The only thing more terrifying than a nuclear strike is that the American response will prioritise suicide over the perception of weakness.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: The Midnight Sky (2020). It feels like this was meant to be a series but didn't have much content. So instead they made a movie without much direction.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: Serpico (1973). This movie aged like fine wine, but whoever dressed Al Pacino stole the show. His outfits deserve their own tier list.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: The Monkey (2025). The quality was consistent throughout and the film was excessive without being insistant. One of the freshest horror flicks I've seen in years.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: Unabomber (2026). Delusions of grandeur, pathological victimhood, derivative intellectualism, and deeply -DEEPLY- unimaginative. I have long regarded Kaczinski as the archetype of the modern conservative man.

I can't figure out if it's the misrepresentation of history or the misunderstanding of science, but something about 3 Body Problem really rubs me the wrong way. It reminds me of The Mentalist showcasing an uneducated person's idea of what a smart person looks like. It's the Ben Shapiro of TV.

In 2003, Barbara Streisand tried to sue a website to remove an image of her Malibu mansion. Before the lawsuit, the image had been downloaded six times. The extra attention drew over 420,000 people to the website that month. This was the first recorded case of the Mackelmore Effect.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: The Whisper Man (2026). Big Silence of the Lambs vibes. The closing scene insults the audience's intelligence, but that's basically a Hollywood tradition at this point.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: Conclave (2024). This visual feast of a flick shows the election of popes is virtually indistinguishable from reality TV. Including the deeply sexually frustrated contestants.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: Take Shelter (2011). This could have been a beautiful film about how mental illness affects families. Until the ending invalidated the whole message. Disappointing and infuriating.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: Platoon (1986). As the quality of war movies rises, the quality of pyrotechnics often decreases. This looks like a budget fireworks display. One of the best.

There's a point in every longterm D&D campaign where you become too powerful for the Monster Manual so you start fighting manifestations of the DM's abstract philosophical fugue state.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: 15 Minutes (2001). Everything about this flick is overbearing, like someone watched Taxi Driver and was like "too subtle". The score deserves mention but defies description.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: The End of the Tour (2015). I legitimately can't tell if this movie expertly walks the line between relatable and pretentious, or if I just relate to it because I'm pretentious.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: Joy Ride (2001). Such a weird era of film, where recognisable tropes are the marker of quality. Like audiences only want to feel cynically smarter than their TV.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: Due Date (2010). Middle-American stereotype of New York goes on roadtrip with Middle-American stereotype of Hollywood. Both get their ass beat by Middle America.

How long would it hypothetically take one person with infinite sock puppet accounts creating, upvoting, and commenting on their own posts to convince all AI learning programs that the answer to every question is cheese-related? Asking for a friend.

Reviewing movies in 25 words or less: A Time to Kill (1996). Handles southern racism with all the nuance of a CNN panel. Sure the KKK are evil, but have you considered that the NAACP have money?

Reviewing movis in 25 words or less: The Sum of All Fears (2002). Big 90s vibes; when else would they dare write Jack Ryan as a pencil-pushing nerd? Not even nearly trashy enough for 2000s cinema.

"Old mate" is a uniquely Australian pronoun used in place of a third person personal pronoun (he, she, they) to denote the person from a previous context. "You know how John moved to the Gold Coast? Well Billy went to Bondi yesterday and he ended up running into old mate."

I just submitted a university essay where I described the coronation of Charlemagne as "the poor self-control of a licentious pope as he prematurely erupted his papal oils over the fuming warlord" and I'm not sure if I'm gonna get marked down for the phrasing but also - worth it.
