Unfulfilled hope from an old universe. Undefeated terror in this one. May your blades reach my heart some day soon, dear challengers. All pronouns accepted 24,000,000,000,000 / 24,000,000,000,000 Icon by @tricksterwish.bsky.social

In conclusion: networking scaery but it is a good, valid and often necessary part of exploring and realizing your skills and passions. Someone trying to network does not make them a clout chaser, and people you want to network with (probably) won't eat your spleen if you stutter one time.

It's worth making a point that while a capitalist society runs on these transactional interactions, it doesn't have to be a game of bargaining all the way down. Most people want to interact with you like people, with your own passions and everything.

People will want to see what art you produce, or what problems you could solve using your own experience. Sure, you might eventually faceplant into the reality of shareholders wanting you to produce the same slop for optimal profits, but your peers will want to see your individual value.

The reality is that, especially in any creative field, so long as you show some level of effort and enthusiam you'll be able to find plenty of people willing to give you a hand. You're potentially a new facet to the industry you're looking at, a new perspective, and that's valuable!

It felt very inherently manipulative to me, the idea of approaching people with the express intent of getting something out of them. However, this assumes that anyone you approach doesn't want to help you, so you have to trick them into some kind of deal that favors you or whatever.

You know what, I think I was wrong to use such negative language on this point. 'Trying to worm into collabs' is a very negative framework, conventionally that pursuit would be called networking. I have historically had some hangups about that, I've never been the best at networking admittedly.

All this to say! I've still got an interest in streaming, I might still raw dog it every once in a while if the right type of game pops up, but for now I'm on hold. My current personal goal is to improve my art, and who knows, with some confidence maybe I'll eventually stream that as well.

And as far as my personal satisfaction goes, what I like streaming for is having an archive for the experiences I'm having with the games I play. Streaming is not necessary for this, I can just record myself offline and then I still have the option to potentially edit a video later on.

The conventional next step here is youtube, making videos where you're only showing your highlight moments, and if enough people like that then it's easier to convince them to hang out in a stream. I am considering this, though I have other skills I want to work on that aren't video production.

Streaming is oversaturated, the bar for entry is low, so people have a ton of choice in who they can watch. Therefore, to me, aside from trying to worm into collabs with people who do have audiences, the way to attract one is to do something that *isn't* streaming.

When someone decides to randomly click on your stream, 99% of the time you aren't going to be conveniently hitting a clip-worthy moment. So, if you don't already have a community shoring up the hanging out vibes, people just don't have much reason to stick around. This is perfectly reasonable!

So I started thinking on whether I actually believe that brute force regular streaming is the best way to go about things, and honestly, I feel it probably isn't. You need something to hook a potential viewer, but most of any given stream isn't going to be particularly eventful.

Update! I've been having thoughts about what I actually want to achieve with streaming, from the outset I did have a 'goal' in mind, but it's not one that I can really execute without an initial audience. Getting one as a solo streamer who isn't part of a pre-established group is, however, tough!

Hello dear challengers, I'm going to be changing my approach to streaming for a little bit. With other projects cropping up that I want to spend time on, streaming's getting pushed back in priority. I'll still do it, but more on a "when I feel like it" basis. Thanks for your support so far!

An outfit design commission for @genmu-euphi.bsky.social of their character Euphoria! I spent a couple days on this one and had a lot of fun working on it! #vgenartist #vgencommission #characterdesign #outfitdesign #ocartist #commission
A feminine figure stands with their hands raised. There are two versions, one with human skin and hair and the other as an abstract black and purple nebula.

Their outfit is comprised of a shiny halter top, red leather pants, over the knee leather boots, and a big black coat. The underside of the coat defies logic and has a swirly transparent pattern that does not show the other side of the coat, but instead what's behind it.

The character design for Euphoria Genmu. A white-haired, dark-clothed person with odd-colored eyes. Also includes designs for an 'abstract form', which depicts Euphoria as a living swirl of space, as a glitch, and as a violent star successively.
