This week is #FarmSafetyWeek, a campaign run by the Farm Safety Foundation to raise awareness on the physical and mental wellbeing challenges faced by farmers. Food imports that don’t meet domestic production standards are one of the issues that negatively impact the mental health of farmers.

On Tuesday the government released their ‘Good Food Cycle’ policy paper for their food strategy. The paper identifies ten priority outcomes needed to build a thriving food sector, including upholding trade standards.

A handful of farmers have received positive news after finding out that their in-progress #SustainableFarmingIncentive applications may now be finished and submitted. The scheme was unfairly and abruptly closed in March this year, despite farmers being told they would receive 6 weeks notice.
