I made a few improvements to VQV. Nothing special. I fixed what was broken and also added the total number of users and the number of unique blocked users to the home page. 43.61% of Bluesky users have already been blocked by someone. 🤦🏻‍♂️

So… what’s the point of listing my interests if Explore just ignores them? 🤦🏻‍♂️

A section called “Your interests”, displaying selected topics:
• Journalism
• News
• Tech
• A blue “Edit interests” button.
• Below that, a ranked list of trending topics, each with post counts and categories:
1. Caturday (marked Hot) – 688 posts
2. BMovieManiacs – 756 posts (Entertainment)
3. Classic Horror – 1.3K posts (Entertainment)
4. The Last Drive In – 2.5K posts (Entertainment)
5. House On Haunted Hill – 433 posts (Entertainment)

The public block lists on Bluesky are one of the worst ideas ever introduced. Whoever created and keeps maintaining them is just fueling the exodus of users who are tired of the platform’s hostility. It’s driving people away, not keeping them safe.

“As users ‘dislike’ posts, the system will learn what content they want less of.” Not always. I might dislike how something was written, not the topic itself. I don’t want to live in a bubble where every post agrees with me—different views make social media worth it.

As users "dislike" posts, the system will learn what sort of content they want to see less of. This will help to inform more than just how content is ranked in feeds, but also reply rankings.
