"What if VoxPort shuts down?" Your DID is yours. Your records are on your PDS, readable by any ATProto app. Your feed is plain RSS 2.0 with a stable GUID. The honest gap: your audio is in our storage(we're working on this) and you'd have to migrate it. Everything else already isn't ours.

What's the one thing your podcast host doesn't do that would actually make you switch? Not a nice-to-have, but the thing you've complained about out loud more than once. Building in the open, would rather solve real problems than invented ones.

Ownership Audit #1: your show should have an identity that isn't your host's. On VoxPort that's your ATProto DID: you sign in with it, and your show's records live in your own repo. For the RSS world, hosted shows now also get a permanent podcast:guid tag. Is there one in your feed?

How many apps do you need to get one episode released? Record in Riverside. Edit in Descript. Upload to Buzzsprout. Nav to social media, write your post, attach the link, hope the cover art shows up right. The apps mentioned are great tools, but the headache of juggling them can be rough.

Why AT Protocol for podcasting? 1) Portable identity: Your audience follows your DID, not a platform username. Move to a new PDS, and you keep everything. 2) Open firehose/jetstream: Any indexer or feed can discover your episodes without an API key.

Found a bug recently. 😬 When a creator published an episode, the browser wrote to their PDS, and within a second, the Jetstream picked up the new record and created a ghost episode row in our DB. Then the publish API call hit a unique constraint violation because the ghost already had the AT URI.
