#AwesomeCharacters Xander's perception of himself is more in the negative He doesn't want to reach higher, and he tells himself, "I wouldn't be able to do it, so why try?" He doesn't necessarily have low self-esteem, more he limits himself and accepts it to be truth instead of striving to be more.

One of the vines had wrapped around my ankle, and I tumbled forward. The world shifted and my wounded shoulder hit the ground first. Agony split my vision white as the momentum pushed my body down the hill. "Fuck!" was all I could cry out as rocks and stray sticks jabbed me all over, every thump of my body against the hard terrain causing more unbelievable pain.

Sun beams beat down on him, turning his scalp into a nice shade of tomato stew red. If I stared hard enough, I could see the steam radiating off of him. The poor soul didn’t have any hair or hat to provide protection. How unfortunate to be bereft of the most natural of things such as hair. Although, with his round-shaped head and new coloring, he could win a vegetable harvest contest. ‘Vegetable Champion,’ would be the label, all bright white against the blue satin.
