Like many tragic stories, it would in theory be so easy to avoid all the tragedy and everyone lives happily ever after right from the start. But the fundamental flaws of the characters involved mean they won't do that.

The tragedy of Caine is that he can't learn how to make the humans happy. Instead of learning from the times he sees them happy, he ignores or disrupts it. It isn't enough for the humans to be happy, he needs them to be happy his way, and that wasn't working.

There's something surreal about recognising the sprites, and also realising that the world around the bike is different enough that it's clearly not the same game.
