The most likely direct interaction with any lesser god would be through a cult, which as mentioned above, is usually only done through blessings. I will likely expand on this a bit more later as I have a design in mind for something that involves greater gods, but is a bit outside of that.

The reason this is being mentioned is in regards to the alternate dimensions mentioned above, as each has a set of greater gods and often lesser gods, though in the main setting, lesser gods are rare even by occult standards and greater gods are effectively unheard of.

Deities individually often have more obscure capabilities, but don't often act directly, and those that do interact at all are considered lesser gods. Greater gods are more or less the embodiment of aspects of a universe when it's created, whereas lesser gods may be concepts or figures.

Raw magic is your more typical magic, usually practiced by specific groups or individuals in a way that is unique to them. This can be things like necromancy, conjuration, blood magic, divination, etc. Lastly, deity specific magic, often in the form of blessings or abilities.

Magic is rare and generally unheard of as far as the general population is concerned, and generally falls under one of a few types. While not necessarily magic, alternate dimensions can provide those from them with certain abilities, some of which effectively acting as magic.

Society isn't all that far off from our own, albeit a bit more diversity given the difference in population. Technology is generally par with where we are, with some more special stuff in the PDA's possession or coming up occasionally in niche groups through varying means.

Along with all your usual shit above, there's also some underwater cities as well, with costal ones often being extensions of those on land, and some more out in the ocean being sprawling complexes build along the walls of ocean trenches, often forming their own nation states.

As far as the world goes, it's mostly humans & anthros, with the occasional demon here and there (demons being from other dimensions, not necessarily hellish ones). Most of the world is covered by individual nations like ours, with a couple exemptions.

Specialists are, as the name implies, usually very capable in specific conditions or circumstances. Outside of those conditions, they typically perform on par with a standard agent. Outside of combat, agents may perform various roles such as logistics, intel, investigation, communication, and so on.

Their combat capabilities vary, sometimes forcing them to be used as a pseudo specialist whereas others can be applied like any other heavy or max. Occasionally they'll get this label due to their abilities being poorly understood despite study, with undetermined strengths.

Maxes are often kept on reserve as they deal with threats that can't be contained or killed through usual means, either requiring overwhelming force, widespread control, or other unnatural capabilities to deal with. Obscure agents typically have abilities that make them harder to classify.

Agents that perform combat roles have ranks (Standard, Heavy, Max, Obscure, & Specialist, with specialist being paired with one of the 3 main classes). Standards deal with anything that can be taken out via firearms or melee weapons. Heavies handle threats that could be killed with air support.

In turn, agents get sent out to investigate rumors, contain threats, or prevent a variety of disasters. I'll mostly be focusing on the agents and monsters as far as art goes since that's what I work with, but the rest of this is just for context/fleshing out the characters and world a bit more.

That all said, detail time. The general focus for the stuff you'll see here is around the PDA/Paranormal Defense Association, a group similar to the BPRD from Hellboy. They deal with anything paranormal, as the name implies, ranging from simple monsters and cults to reality warping anomalies.
