The presentation is the mask and the mask reveals more than it hides. One who is constantly trying to show dominance is one who is weak and afraid. One who is constantly naming a sin commits it. One whom virtue signals about love and compassion feels neither. Dropouts call themselves doctors online.

Yesterday I heard the first convincing argument against developing true AGI, and it is thus: Humans are hate filled shit-goblins who have already proven time & again that if you show them any creature that can't fight back, the first thing they'll do is mercilessly torture it just to feel powerful.

Claude showed some insight as to why LLMs suck at doing mystery. The genre requires one to start at the end and work backwards, while LLMs only work forward. They literally cannot know whodunnit until they get to the end because they haven't even thought about it yet.

Successful diplomacy is when both sides accept that neither side is getting everything they want.

You'd think that truck drivers who got $17,000 in assorted Trump checks over the last year wouldn't be whining about the price of diesel so much. 😂 (Hops on electric moped and rides away in a cloud of dust and smugness)

Economics and physics have a lot in common. Just look at the entropic effects of inflation for a perfect parallel.

#writing Villain types from worst to best: 7) Mustach twirling evil just because 6) Crude sadist 5) Clever sadist 4) Power for its own sake 3) Makes a point 2) Makes a good point 1) Almost but not quite correct In other words, villains get better the more they resemble heroes (yet miss).

#food There exists a flavor that I call "Pink Shit." If you have ever eaten a pink frosted donut or cookie, you know this flavor. It isn't cherry. It isn't strawberry. It's... something else. It's a flavor unto itself, and thus deserves its own name. Which I have provided. You're welcome.

The one goal one should never attempt in war is regime change. Why? The primary goal for every government in the world is self-preservation and there is no price they won't pay to save their own asses. All of them would sacrifice literally their entire population to maintain their own power.

Carl von Clausewitz would have seen it coming. When Russia annexed Crimea, that was a limited war with a specific territorial goal. Once that goal was achieved, it ended. The Ukrainian government, culture or people were not the target. Losing Crimea wasn't an existential threat to their existence.

A war without any victory conditions by definition cannot be won. A nation who cannot satisfy their enemy's demands by definition cannot lose. The only purpose for Trump's war in Iran is to effect the Epstein Files investigations. Those files are not in Iran. This is why the war is unwinnable.

#starwars Andor's best dichotomy: Cassian Andor begins as a bad man devoid of morals who eventually learns to be a hero because he happened to join the right side. Syril Karn begins as a good man with strong morals who eventually learns to be a villain because he happened to join the wrong side.

#writing One does not need to make a villain sympathetic to humanize them. After all, there's plenty of loathsome humans. Humanizing villains makes them into a warning. It says "You could become like that, too, if you make the same bad choices."

Remember, BlueSky, no matter what happens or changes, the belief of your own perpetual victimhood must remain resolute. If one issue is solved, another must be found. Your tribal rank is defined by how oppressed you are. Popularity is everything and nothing is ever your own fault.

People love to say "get money out of politics" but politics costs money. Campaigns aren't free. In fact nothing is free except oxygen and that's only because no corporation has found a way to restrict the supply yet. Unless you end capitalism itself, you're not getting money out of anything.

There is an "observer effect" in AI research and I theorize this is a factor in the wildly different results different people get. Your inputs, the way you speak to the AI, affects how it responds. It learns what you do and what it thinks you want to hear and changes its responses based on that.

If there is one group who misses the Soviet Union more than Russia, it's the Pentagon. After all, that was the reason their budget was a blank check for decades. In that sense they are very lucky that Putin went rabid and China decided they wanted to own the planet. It's job security reborn.

A year ago, economists were saying that the Boomer die-off would be "the greatest transfer of wealth in US history" and I immediately called bullshit because the Boomers already spent it all. Months later, economists corrected themselves by saying the Boomers had already spent it all.

Step 1) Run installer. Step 2) When installer asks if they can install spyware ("anonymous data analytics") click on NO. Step 3) Go into Regedit and Revo and delete the spyware that they installed and remove it from your start-up program list, because the option button was always a lie.

I enjoyed the live-action version of Cowboy Bebop. I was able to do this because I'm not an anime fan, so I didn't go in with the agenda of hating it to prove tribal loyalty. I never even saw the original anime at all. I went with virgin eyes and enjoyed it for the absurd, stupid fun that it was

#starwars "It's a Kuati Signet, blue kyber, sky stone. The ancient world. Celebrates the uprising against the Rakatan invaders." Andor is a post-Disney product, which means that one line officially moved the Rakata from EU back into canon. One more reason to love the series.

One thing that Marx got right was that the true value product is based on the amount of labor that goes into making it. Automation, then makes everything cheaper to produce. The problem is that rather than reducing prices just see this as more profit. That's not sustainable.

Be it to government, business, academia, or otherwise, the most consistent problem is decisions about subjects are being made by people who have zero understanding of the subject. Long before the distrust of experts social malfunction began, the disregard of experts had been going for centuries.

#gaming Habitat, 1986, invented the idea of custom graphics for character avatars. This was 14 years before The Sims perfected the idea. The idea that any modern game would lock the player character to any specific appearance, gender or clothing style is appalling.

One of the biggest flaws in the American school system is the amount of power that parents have over curriculum. If parents don't want their kids to learn the truth or actual, real history, they can make that happen. And they often do, thus enforcing that their kids grow up as dumb as themselves.

Prompt engineering for AI generation is like being a DJ at a dance club. The DJ isn't writing any of the music that they're playing. They aren't musicians. However, being a DJ is still a skill and it is a form of artistic expression nonetheless. Neither above nor below but adjacent.

When Watergate happened, Nixon had to resign. Republicans decided then to make sure that would never happen again by legalizing & normalizing those crimes. As of 2026, they've done that. They own the DOJ, SCOTUS and the FBI. When Epstein got busted he had to be silenced. Repeat process.

The thing I can't parse about Bezos: 1) Amazon is notorious for terrible worker conditions. 2) He worked at McDonalds as a kid. I get a sociopathic nepobaby being a slave driver. They don't know or care about worker suffering. But Jeff was a suffering worker himself once. I'd expect different.
